How much did you pay for your fit.
#21
Hi everyone, I was hoping someone could help me out, I'm a little confused with the numbers and what exactly msrp is. This is my first time buying a car, so bare with me.
I've decided to get a fit and was delighted to find that my local dealer is getting an automatic blue sport in 10 days, so I went in to put down a refundable deposit.
Here's the breakdown:
$16,520 for the car + 991 tax (6% sales tax in indiana) + 187 document fee (!!) = $17,698.
Now for the questions. When people are saying they're getting the car for msrp, are they including the destination fee? Or did they somehow get that taken off? Are the title and registration something that you have to get taken care of yourself, or is that something that the dealership does? Is this what the document fee is for? I'm just looking at what others have paid, and mine seems to be on the high end of the scale.
I'm young and I really don't want to get taken advantage of. When I got back home, I realized that the total they gave me didn't add up with the numbers they gave me. It was off $150 in their favor. So I don't know if it was just a simple mistake, or if they're already trying to mess with me. I don't want to pay more than msrp, and if people aren't paying the destination fee, then I'll get my deposit back and just wait and look somewhere else.
Thanks for all your help, I'm really learning a lot by reading this forum.

I bought the extended extended warranty (six years total) because I had the money now from the sale of a house, and might not have it later if things go wrong. Have wondered if I threw 800-plus down the drain, but oh, well.
I also bought the protection package for $399 (he supposedly took off $100 from the usual price). Anyone else do that, or know if it actually helps stave off fading and staining from bird poop, etc?
ETA: Oh, I forgot to mention, I paid a total of $17,190 including the above fees and a $249 "Dealer Administrative Fee" for a BOM 5-speed.
Taxes were over $1100 more (ouch!), but there were no title and registration fees. I had my tags transferred from my Chevy so they're good for another eight months.
ETAA: Ooops, I lied. I was charged a whole $2.50 for Lic & Reg Fees.

there is also no such thing as dealer administrative fee, and protection package is a very overpriced wax job. extended warranties are also a rip off. please do research before purchasing any vehicle. start here....

AT Sport (Storm Silver!). Paying $15970 (MSRP) + $550 (delivery) + title and license. Out the door, the price will be $16733. Should be arriving in three weeks! Got it at Ron Tonkin Honda in Portland, and they're only selling at MSRP!

Triangle dealers in Puerto Rico.Sticker price( $17,300 PR tax included ) + $376 for registration and licecnse and stuff. But they are defenetly selling them in over price high 18's to 20k and that is bad. I get mine on sticker beacuse their used car manager is a friend of mine and he set the deal for me.

I'm trying to get a VBP Sport Auto myself but it seems like an eternity to wait that long? Any help in trying to get it sooner would be great or any suggested dealers. I heard though through another forum not to go to Schaumburg Honda.

For a Fit Auto Sport we paid $17,600 before the extended warranty w/ tax, title, registration, and all that jazz (pun intended). Then we added the extended warranty which was not taxed, which brought us up to $19,220.
