Type of gas u use & gas mileage....
Just wondering what kinda gas do u guys use?
I have 3400km on my Fit sport 5MT so far and I've been using Chevron 92. I can do 11.2km/L so far. Not all that great but at least it's quite a bit better than the 2000 SiR that I had
I've just switched to Petro Canada 91 tonight. Just wanna see if that will make any difference.
I've changed my engine oil to Castrol GTX 5w20 after I reached 3000km. And I keep running 34psi(F)32psi(R) cold tire pressure on my kumho snow tires.

Very roughly since I didn't write down how much liter of gas exactly I put in, and I just only finished the 2nd tank today:
1) 9.2L/100km (whatever dealer gave me)
2) 10L/100km (Chevron 94)
All city stop-and-go driving with defrost on most of the time (I think the AC pump is running with defrost on, right?).

I would get an alignment done in next spring. See if it's way off or not.

My worst mileage has been 9.5 L/100 km with Chevron 94 (never again)!
My regular tanks use 87 Shell (air miles) or Chevron (3 blocks from home). I drive all city, daily commute along King Edward to Kingsway, around 15 km. I get between 8.1 L/100 to 9.3L/100
The original poster said he got 11.2 km/l which works out to 8.9 l/100 km. I don't see any point in using higher octane gas... nobody's really shown any improvement in mileage, even before taking price into account
Oh yes, Sport Auto, very mellow driver.

After my first oil change i tested the 94 at chevron against the 87 I have been using. In my old civic it made a noticeable difference. In my Fit auto I didn't see or feel any real difference in mileage or performance. I ran through two full tanks of each back to back and still didn't find any real change. Since then I just run the 87.

Yup I just wanted to use some better gas on the 1st 3000km or so. I usually get 50km+ more per tank of 94(compare with 92). I guess by the time I am reaching 5000km it would be the time that I settle w/certain type of gas.
Do u guys have the defrost on pretty much all the time these days too? I just HAD to keep it on before I disconnect the plug at the back to control the A/C manually. That might be one of the reason that gas mileage isn't all that good........

I just made my first stop at a gas station today. My rough first tank estimates is around 9.76L/100KM. That's mostly in-town driving, and keeping it mostly under 3500 rpm since I'm not through the break-in period. That's definately worse than the advertised 7.3/5.8 (L/100KM) City/Highway for my LX. I'm running with defrost on most of the time as well, and may consider unplugging the A/C harness from the switch as well. But I really don't think when Honda tested their fuel consumption, they unplugged the harness. So I dunno, maybe the engine will loosen up a bit since it's still very new.
On the plus side, with the small tank on our Fit, I put in $20 and it fill over 1/2 the tank! That feels good, however superficial it is.
I found this handy little fuel consumption calculator online. It might help some.
As far as octane goes, there are absolutely zero benefits in running a higher than recommended octane rating. Check out this post by the US Federal Trade Commission for some info on octane levels. in fact back in 1997, Exxon was forced to re-educate consumers to go with what the owners manual recommends as the right octane level because their previous ads had suggested higher octane levels were better for car engines to clean engines and reduce maintanence costs.

My fill-up this evening yielded....10.23L/100Km or 23.12MPG. Have been using Chevron 89 since new.
Not the greatest mileage , but most of our driving is basically Richmond-Vancouver-Richmond during rush hours.

Well, i've always gone with chevron 94 only in all my vehicles because of the cleanign properties/agents in teh fuel. It prevents tthe build up of carbon, helps in fuel economy, runs cleaner, runs smoothing, Personally, i've found that the performance is there but quite minimal.(friends racing me with our 4runners). I drive from Richmond to Downtown Vancouver 6 days a week, Mon-Fri in rush-hour, and i drive it quite aggressively, i'm getting about 400km per tank. My friend who lives in Surrey, is getting about 600-700 pertank, depending on how hard he drive it.

I've been using Chevron 89 for a few tanks already and most of my driving were done during rush hour also, from Burnaby > Richmond > Burnaby again.
I shift @ 3500-4000rpm quite often these days. I made 220km on this first half tank that I just had. It used to make difference by running lower octane when I had my SiR coupe. But the engine response actually feels about the same on this L15 block.
Oh btw windshield defrost was on 98% of the time. Gonna wait til the needle points to empty and see how it does.

I basically ply the Richmond-Vancouver-Richmond route during rush hours and occasional trips to the mall.

How do you guys get such good mileages?
I use PetroCan's SuperClean92(just because of the 5.5 cents savings) and I average between 8.5L/100km to 9.5L/100km. I only do city driving as I'm 3km from work. However, I do go out a lot to see clients during the day... but still within the City...
Somebody help me to improve my milages!!!
