Japanese-built Fits

I just got my 2016 Honda EX Fit built in Japan, and the difference between that and my 2015 Honda EX Fit built in Mexico is significant. I immediately noticed as a whole the car was tighter, smoother drive and the fit and finish was better and a few other things.

When I drove off the lot, I was getting 44-45 mpg in the 2016 Honda EX Fit while the best I could do on the 2015 Honda EX Fit was 38.7 mpg.

Next the 2016 Honda EX Fit did not stutter when you take off which I thought was the result of the CVT transmission on the 2015 Honda EX Fit, but now I suspect its a firmware or actual hardware issue. I am taking the 2015 Honda EX Fit to the dealer and have the stutter issue resolved or the CVT tranny replaced, I will bring my 2016 Honda EX Fit to show them there is a issue.

Then the acceleration on the 2016 Honda EX Fit is comparable to the Accord and Civics in terms of quickness to say the least and without the stutter extremely smooth and still getting good mpg with the fast starts.

The tightness in the steering and the fit and finish on the 2016 Honda EX Fit also was a pleasant surprise. I had noticed some issues on the 2015 Honda EX Fit, on the panels placement being a bit off and slight uneven gaps on the doors and hatch and the lesser paint on several hidden sections. No biggie, but I can see it now is not same as the 2016 Honda EX Fit.

What has been everyone's experience with the Japanese-built Fits and especially the new 2016 Japanese-built Fits?

Interesting info. What colors of each? I can see paint being an issue as they improve their overall processes. I've seen various levels of quality in the silver painted ones in particular.

I'm guessing over time your mileage on both will converge to about the same if you drive the same mix.

The CVT in our mex-made 2015 is very smooth so I'd definitely make a case about having that resolved. Perhaps it is the 2k RPM engine stutter reported by several MT posters and not the CVT?

Pics of the twins would be nice too!

I've had mine for 7 months and 15,000 miles. No problems or issues whatsoever. Fit and finish and driving experience for me has been great. CVT is as smooth as can be with mpg in the low 40's. All is well with my Fit. I love it.

My 2010 is a Japanese built and the transmission died completely after 73k miles.. A good note it was easy to change the transmission but iam questioning the reliability of a manual vs automatic now.. The clutch did still look brand new when I changed the transmission

That's funny everyone does ask me that.. I load up car so heavy it bottoms out sometimes and drive it for hundreds of miles at a time and I also redline the car 3-5 times a day
