Latest from AHM - no more Manuals

After placing my order June 6th, the order was supposedly accepted by the factory late August. No word since then, so my dealer spoke with the district manager, who checked with AHM in California. The word is that there are no more Manual Fits being produced, and there won't be until further notice. There is no way I'm buying an automatic, so I may have to wait until next spring to get my Fit. I just hope my Civic lasts until then.....

Now, I trust this dealer - they've always had good info, being the largest dealer in 4 states around Ohio, through 2 previous car purchases. I can only hope that their info is incorrect.

Liar. You are being playedOur dealer has had 3 built in the last month. Here is the deal. Manual trannys are constricted meaning that no more than 15% of a dealers order can be manuals some dealers don't order any some dealers can't due to there limited allocation. Our dealer whish is quite large we get allocated 15-17 per month so we can order 2-3 manuals per month which we do. I would guess that your dealer either can't or won't order manuals so you are stuck.

The dealer I bought my Fit from had two manuals on the lot the day I took one of them home with me. They had another manual there last week for a little bit. The only ones they get so far have been manuals. I asked one of the dealers when they would be getting another and he said they sell before they get off the trucks, but they won't be getting any more till FEB 07!

Yes, dealers will tell you ANYTHING to slide the blame...
"Hey, Mean ol' Honda won't make anymore manual fits..how about a nice Civic! Wouldn't you rather pay just a little bit extra and get a Civic?!?!!!"-dealer

"....umm no."-me

an embelishment but essentially the conversation I had with a sales manager when trying to get my Sport M/T back in April...he said I'd have to wait till NOVEMBER!! LOL...call around call three states over if you have to. There are new fit m/t's comming in..just gotta be there to claim it before someone else does.

MT's in Northeast

We ordered a base fit with MT from our dealer here in Maine over two months ago and were told we're looking at what could be a May '07 delivery!

I'd appreciate any information on base MT's available in the northeast.

Many thanks,

Craig

MEXCELLENT:...Thanks for the words of hope...don't think its the dealer giving bad info, I think it may be the District office...Glad you got your prod date!

Tom:...That MT was a real rarity back then. I'm not sure if PA is Middle Atlantic or northeast, but there have been reportedly few, if any, MTs delivered anywhere in our area.

Cheers!

Craig

I'm in PA, and I've had a manual Fit on order since July 5th- I'm still waiting. no build date, no VIN, no anything. So if they're still building them, they don't seem to be coming here.

Manual Tran

I have had mine on order since july. I just got the info on the build date , 10/14/06. Mine was the only MT in the 8 that my dealer is getting. Having talked to other dealers, the MT versions are hard to come by. I am not sure what to belive, but my dealer told me that they could only order a certain number of MTs. Sorta echos what this thread has been saying. Either way, I can't belive why so many people would get this car with an AT. Doesn't make sense to kill the performance (both MPG and accel) with an AT. Must be a lot of people out there who can't drive a MT and want better gas milage than what thier driving now.

Well the dealer just called me - he managed to do a dealer trade for a Red Sport Manual. I need to call him by tomorrow if I want it. It has a production date of today. Hmmm.........decisions, decisions....

To me, this tells me that, at the very least, this dealer probably isn't BSing me. Either they are correct or they've been told some BS by Honda. It doesn't make sense to tell me that story, then turn around & go to the extra effort of doing a dealer trade so that they can get a manual for me, even if it's not my color. There's got to be another explanation.

I just got my BOM Fit Sport on 9/27, I live in East Tennessee and my salesman said that they were producing the m/t, just in very low numbers, 5% of all produced. He said he had a couple more coming in, dunno.

Jonas, I know that you wanted a white one, but it looks like you may have to settle for red. Hope that this deal goes through for you.

The deal is already done. The car's build date was last Monday, so about 4-5 weeks or so from now it should be waiting for me.

Matt & Barb had gotten me their Honda sales contact in Virginia. He promised a White Sport manual in 90 days, but at $2000 over MSRP.

My Civic won't wait that long anyway. I need a car ASAP. Red it will be. My old CRX Si and Prelude were red, so I wanted to try something different, but having the manual is more important than having the exact color. There are worse colors to settle for...

I'm glad to hear that MT's are still coming, if slowly.

Jonas, I know what you mean about your Civic...Our Fit will replace our beloved 1991 Civic Wagon 2wd...

Cheers,

Craig
