Is there any way to get a smaller/normal size key?

I always like to carry a spare key in my wallet. But as you know the Fit's key is huge. I don't care about the remote features on a 2nd key, I just want it to unlock my car manually and start it too. Is there any way to make the key smaller?

You can get a non remote key. It has a chip so it's not flat like keys of old, but it is smaller. Probably too big for a wallet.

I went to a locksmith and he made me a spare key that I keep in my wetsuit when I go surfing. It has no chip and can open the doors but it doesn't start the car

I'm thinking how maybe I could live with that if I could find a good place to hide the spare key in my Fit

How about in the compartment under the driver side rear seat?

I wish they would have kept that hidden compartment in the GK, or added one somewhere. It would be nice to have a place to keep "particular" items safe and hidden.

unlock the door, yes, but start it too no unless you want to replace the entire locking/starting electronics. That might cost a few thousand dollars.

Under the trunk floor is enough space cut out in the styrofoam to keep some things.

IIRC, you can't lock the car if the fob is in it.
