Question on key/ignition for Fit
This is the first time I've had a remote key. It heats up quite a bit after being in the ignition. Is this typical of this type of key, or should I be concerned about the ignition switch overheating?

This has been asked before.
I believe it's probably due to the coded key security feature. It's probably some sort of RFID. If the key is left in the field, it's made to 'hum' by RF induction. This will generate heat.
I wouldn't worry about it, it's not likely going to explode. Remember, the Fit has been sold in other countries for several years. If keys were exploding, Honda would have fixed it by now.

Mine doesn't do that (yes, mine is a sport with the keyless entry set into it). But even if that is "normal", as Fray Adjacent said above that it generates heat due to the RF field, I would imagine that it would drain your key battery really quickly. Anything that generates heat will use a lot of electricity.
