its the model number of the fit. look at your vin and you can see those letters together. it's just a way to tell what vehicle it is by looking at the vin.

Kids and ricers like to act cool by calling their car by it's chassis designation, or body number... 'F-body', 'DSM', 'GD3'..

Yeah, my Tiburon is the GK chassis designation, but I don't go around saying I drive a GK.

not everyone who uses these codes are trying to act cool. within a group where everyone knows what an AP1 is, there's just no need to say '2000-2003 honda S2000'. it can be used to distunguish different year models such as EG6 and EK9.

it's like animals... they all have their common name and scientific name. biologists use the scientific names.

and some people just like the codes better than the name.

Not sure where you hang around, but the people I'm around are hardly "kids and ricers". We use the chassis designation because we have numerous platforms from the the CRX to the Integra to the S2K to the current Si. When we're looking at parts or working on our cars, we often have to look by the chassis designation and not the year and model to find the correct part.

And you have....well.....2 decent Tiburon platforms. THAT'S why you don't go around saying you drive a GK....

im just used to calling cars by their chassis code. with nissan forums there are so many different variations of cars with the same name like Z's, or 240sx, its just easier to say chassis code.
