o2 Sensor

After less than 58k, my #1 O2 sensor died. It took the dealer 3 days to locate one. Is there a shortage? Is there a problem that Honda is not talking about? Hate to pay $460 to replace a defective part.

Big fan of the car otherwise- no problems except for the power window switch recall.

It's readily available aftermarket for less than $200. You need a different mechanic.

this is an 07/08, right?

It is an '08.

Went to the dealer; price includes labor. Local guy would have done it for a lot less, but they had already charged me for a diagnosis that would be credited, so the difference wasn't that much.

Real question is "Isn't this a little soon (<60k) for a failure? And given that there were none to be found in NE, is this a widespread defect causing a shortage? Recall? Trying to find out if others are having this premature part failure.

I haven't heard of any issues. My guess is it fails so rarely and Honda's price is too high so they don't bother stocking them at the dealer.

Bosch recommends replacement @100K miles. I just had one go on a 16 year old Toyota at 160K. Luck of the draw I guess. It doesn't cause the car to not run when they fail so I don't see the sense in preventative maintenance replacements.
