My car's right outside my office, so I went and checked. Visually, I don't see any rubber. My fingertips tell me "this $hit feels like rubber". Again just on the + paddle.

Try cleaning the paddles. They just might be a bit dirty. I wouldn't use anything strong though (cleaner).

Yes the ridges and lack of it on the other side are purposely designed. That's so you can keep your eyes on the road and not on your paddles.

That's Honda engineering baby. They pay attention to detail

Haha. If you drive like that, you'd have bigger problems than mpg.

For clarity, I think it's a bonus feature for you to "Braille" it, if you will, with your finger tips in the event your steering wheel is ever at an awkward position as you said, 180 degrees left or right. Things can happen quick when you are driving aggressively. Anything to stack the cards in your favor is a good thing. Yes?

I think I was going a little faster on the highway (70+) and then decided for the hell of it to go into S mode. I down shifted into 4th instead of 3rd. I really don't believe we can shift into a mode that would harm the car... well unless you are still breaking in the car.

I anticipate the turn

If i'm making a left turn when in S mode in 1st gear with wheel centered, with my left hand I reach across to the 3:00 position. As I turn left the right handed shifter (+) ends up on my left and allows me to shift without getting all tangled up. Try it. I thought it was a little awkward too trying to shift when your right hand is over your left as you turn.
