mpg question/ 2010 vs. 2009 Sport (automatic)
Greetings from a newbie
I am having to replace my 2009 Sport (automatic) with a 2010 (sob. same color. still not my old car).
My main question is about the mpg indicator. The car has almost 26K on it and was driven just under 8000 miles a year by the previous owner. It's been on the lot since the end of May.
I took the car around the block and one exit over on the interstate (65-70). The mpg indicator never went above 21. Dealer attributed this to the car not having been taken on long trips, having sat there for a while, needing to clear out tank.
Does that seem right? Will it break in and come closer to 30 or above(most of my serious driving is actually highway/ rural)? Thanks in advance for any help--thoughts about the 2009 vs. 2010 sport would also be appreciated

"needing to clear out the tank" sounds like dealer speak for "I don't know."
If it's a Honda dealer and under warranty I don't think it's an issue, otherwise you might want it inspected by a Honda mechanic before purchasing.

Thanks so much for the good info. That seems consistent with the thread I finally found here re the earlier years. It's certified, so I think I am good
Yes, I don't think he knew--but the reading suggests adding fresh gas and resetting the trip meter will help. The mileage is really low for this area, and I believe you're right about the idling/ short trips. Thanks again!!
