2014 Honda Fit - When? Changes?
Greetings all!
I'm in the market for a new car and have narrowed my choice to the Fit.
Any thoughts on when dealers will be seeing a 2014 model? Or will a 2014 model be introduced next year, in 2014? Would we see any type of introduction at the New York Auto Show in March?
I'm thinking of waiting on my purchase to see what has changes (if any) have been made to the 2014 model.
Thanks!

New body style can be seen in this link:

Looks like Honda is going to shoot itself in the foot, again.

It reminds me of the Nissan Versa which IMO is the least attractive hatchback on the road. A couple of weeks ago I noticed some posts about the front end of the newer Fits being different than the 2009-2010 models. After paying attention to the front end of my 2012 I realized that there is a noticable difference and the front end of mine doesn't look as aggresive as the 2009 models. It's almost like Honda neutered it to make it less edgy/more mainstream. If the new Fit is going to look like the ones in these pics I guess Honda is trying to finish the neutering process.

Not for the US market, but the 3 cylinder gas engine Honda was reported to be developing, is estimated to be 35.4 kilometers per liter. If my math is correct, that's a little more than 83 mpg! Could this be true?

Let's just hope....

I never believe it, until I see it.
BUT....let's just hope that picture is a long way from what direction Honda is going in for The Fit.
I actually LIKE that my Fit looks a little different than all the generic hatchbacks on the road.
It's hard to tell from that picture...but it looks like Honda has taken all the individual "geekiness" out of The Fit. And believe it or not, that's what I like about the styling of The Honda Fit. I think it's a good combination of "Sporty" looking and "Utilitarian"...as well as being somewhat unique in comparison to Volkswagens, Hyundai's and Fords and KIA's....
That vehicle looks like almost any and all hatchbacks on the market.
I've seen vehicles that I hated in pictures, but once I saw them in person I liked.
But my first impression upon viewing that picture is that Honda is going way, way mainstream and conservative.
The interior would have to offer a lot, and/or Honda would have to significantly raise the bar in a lot of other areas.
Because I wouldn't be trading in or buying based on "looks".

Keeping My Fit
[QUOTE: "It probably doesn't matter much to me anyway, because I plan to keep my 2012 for a long while,"
-Dustin[/QUOTE]
That was the same thing I said about my '07; unfortunately, being T-boned by a hit & run driver changed everything, So now, "I plan to keep my '12 forever"
'12 VBP Sport 5MT w/minor appearance & comfort mods!!

I would be waiting based on the fact new plant producing the next generation, maybe with the competition offering sportier versions in this segment maybe Honda would follow in the future. Or wait until 2016 when Honda is rumor to be bringing the Civic hatchback back to the USA or Toyota offers the rear wheel drive hatchback based on the FR-S.

That car is better looking. You can argue over little design features, but the overall shape - longer - is better. Our cars are a bit too stubby. They look like toys and other drivers treat them like such.
Aside from that, it'll have more power (figure 125-130hp), be slightly quieter but not enough to make it truly comfortable, and have an even more useful interior. It won't have any better air conditioning, making it equally capable of generating fitfreak complaints every 72 hours from May through September. Fuel economy will rise substantially on the highway, but only on the EPA test and not much in the real world, which will drive sales but if anything just make complaints worse.
It may even be cheaper! Not much, but because it's made in Mexico the profit margins will be much better. Also because it's made in Mexico (really, because it's the first year of production in the first year of a new factory operation with new suppliers and a new design), the quality will initially seem decent but will quietly go down hill for a year or two before Honda get the hang of managing Mexican workers and suppliers.
So there you have it. Wait? Better looking car, improved in all ways except reliability. Buy now? Get it now, proven design, still the class leader despite being the oldest entrant, and made in Japan. (All the good stuff is made in Japan, Doc!)

Yeah make it longer, so it can further cut into the Civic's market, add weight to reduce MPG further, make it sluggish, eliminate all fun to drive, etc.
And yeah, totally a more useful interior, the Fit doesn't have any space inside >__>

it will come to that at one point... the US does a good job on fucking up a formula that works so they can satisfy the BIGGER is BETTER mindset of most.
