I'm looking to buy used, and I was wondering if anyone had a strong opinion on how many miles are too many to buy this car used with. Example: I looked at a 2009 Fit yesterday, and it checked all the boxes for me: color, Sport version, minimal damage, clean title what is a good mileage for a used first car, drove well, good price. The only issue is that it has 110,000 miles on it, which seemed like a lot to me for 3-4 years.

Is that too much for these cars? Would you buy one with that amount of mileage, and if not, where would you cut it off? I'm looking to buy anywhere from 2007 onwards, depending on the condition/price and the above mentioned factors. I'd like to spend under 10k if possible. I typically drive 5-8k miles a year, and I'd like to keep the car for a few years at least.

Thanks for any help and insight - also if you have any other thoughts on buying a used Fit, I'd love to hear them. Hopefully this is the right place. Thanks!
Having read number67's post on a low mileage no service history car and the subsequent responses, it got me thinking about this thought that a high mileage car is better than a low mileage car.

Now i dont know if i'm in the minority on here but as long as a car is regularly serviced i would generally always rather have the low mileage car.

The interior, the tyres, the brakes and generally most wear and tyre items (bar the exhaust/cat) usually seem to be in far better nick on a low mileage car. Which means less immediate expense.

I think it's more than "regular service" -- which is ambiguous anyway. Someone driving a Fit 5-6000 miles (8-10K km) a year may balk at spending the money on a synthetic oil and filter change twice a year. "I don't drive it that much!" Or they only drove it a couple of miles to the grocery store or to church or wherever. That's not enough time for the car to warm up completely.

Just going by mileage, without context, is dangerous. I would rather buy a Fit that did 25,000 miles a year on a daily 40 mile commute than a Fit that sat most of the time except when it was taken on 5 minute trips because the owner's other cars weren't available. On the other hand, I probably would avoid a Fit that was run by a courier in an urban setting and spend more on a Fit that sat, garaged for 8 months out of the year because it was some snowbird's winter car.
