Weird Noise from 2010 Fit Sport (audio clip enclosed)

Hello,

I was driving my Fit to work this morning and I noticed a small rattling noise as I backed out of my garage. It kind of sounded a little creaky at first, but then started to sound like something was caught on the undercarriage or somewhere near the wheel well. I drove to work and looked under the car once I parked, but couldn't see anything unusual.

On the way home the noise started again and started to get louder especially on inclined planes. Eventually the noise got pretty loud (sounded like a coat hanger in a dryer), I pulled out my phone and recorded some audio. As I recorded, the noise got really loud and sounded like something flew out then stopped. For the remainer of my commute (approx 5 km) there was no more noise.

The audio is probably the loudest and worst part of the noise. The sound in the first second is the noise I initially heard in the morning.

Should I get this looked at? The sound is gone for now. I am probably due of an oil change in about a month, can I wait to bring up this noise then. Or should I ignore it since it seems to have deceased. Or is this something that should get looked at immediately.

The vehicle in question is a 2010 Honda Fit Sport, with only 22K mileage.

Thanks for your feedback. I am not very mechanically savvy so any advice would be much appreciated.

Don't worry about it.

Sounds like it was probably a rock/pebble stuck between the brake rotor and the brake dust shield or thereabouts. It probably fell out when the sound went away. It's happened to a lot of us.

Sometimes just alternating forward and reverse gets the rock out on its own. Other times, you might have to get in there and pry the rock out.
