3rd gear pseudo slip

I am still getting used to my car but it seems I always hit 3rd and it falls right about 3500. As I let out the clutch the V-tec is starting and the rpm comes up just a little and it almost seems like the clutch is slipping. I have shifted at different points to see and I never feel it anywhere else.
Am I hypersensitive or has anybody else noticed that?

You mean it drops 3500rpm? I'm confused. At what RPM do you upshift from 2 to 3?

No the rpm picks up slightly. I don't know exactly where I'm shifting at, but if I were to guess I'd say about 4k. I'm not running it hard yet, but I'm not driving around Miss Daisy either.

Ya mean it sort of acts as though you're giving it a little more gas as you let the clutch out? I just assume that it's just getting the vtec power boost at that instant and that's just the clutch mechanism making sure it doesn't surprise you.

I hate to make this comparison, but my parents Ford Windstar van does exactly the same thing as you describe, bugs me to no end.

I've noticed it too. It happnes sometimes on the 2 to 3 shift. The engine will hold its revs when you release the gas after running it up to 3500 rpm or so. However, it's doing this less and less now. Maybe it was a break-in period phenomenon.
