eBay woes

Arrrg! I am so mad at myself. I ordered a nice steering wheel emblem from ebay for 25$. It came in fast.

After I installed it I noticed a small defect on the bottom left of the emblem on the lip. You can clearly see it.

I lived with it for a couple of weeks. and then said f it to myself and ordered another one.

I emailed the seller asking him to please open the package and make sure this time the emblem was damage free.

Guess what?

The emblem came in. Fast shipping. With the exact same blemish. It think it's from the manufacturing process.

Either way. I feel quite the sucker today!

No wonder people hate to order from eBay...

Cheap replica parts from China = no QC = bad quality. It's not Ebay's fault.

Sorry about the problem, but as has been said a million times, you get what you pay for. Leave a review for the seller stating the problem, I bet they'll offer to send you one blemish free if you take down the bad review. I've dealt with Chinese companies on there before (not for car stuff though) and that seems to be the case 75% of the time.

What makes me mad is that it was made in Japan...

This picture is the item I ordered but I DID NOT ORDER IT FROM BESTJDMPARTS....just a pic of it from the net.

sorry but seller most likely bought those for $1 from china and another $1 for customized packaging. heck if seller wants to put made in Jupiter on the packaging... china prints

and that's the lesson for today...

Yeah, unfortunately, you really have to educate yourself on replica parts, probably 80% of the "authentic Mugen" or "OEM" parts on EBay are really replicas, you just have to know how to spot the real from fake.

There's threads around the net that will educate you on the nuances. IIRC there's a good one on NWP4LIFE: Main that goes through a lot of the more common items.

If it's not a genuine Honda emblem, I wouldn't expect it to be perfect.

As far as I know there is no Honda part number for a Red H emblem for a steering wheel. If there is well... let me know!

If you know of a reputable seller for this item please comment. I will order a new one once I can confirm the seller has opened the box and tell me it's perfect.

I would not advise putting emblems on steering wheels that'll shoot like shuriken or ninja star out a cannon when the bags deploy... do vinyl inserts instead.
