Honda Fit AC

Honda Fit AC
Brand new Honda Fit Sport 2012 with 1000 miles on it. On an interstate trip 70 MPH on a 90+ degree hot day. After about 2 hours noticed not much cool air from AC. Green pilot light on AC switch is on. Shut off AC switch for 5 minutes, turn back on and had all the cool air we wanted. Seemed like the 5 minutes off/on performed some kind of "reset." Anyone ever experienced this behavior? Thanks

I'm seeing quite a few complaints about the Fit AC.
It looks like the AC is just not able to handle cooling the cabin depending on the outside temps.
I'm in California near the coast and have no problems with my AC keeping things nice and cold.
I don't expect the Fit AC to perform like my previous car (2011 Mustang) that had ice cold AC in any conditions.
I think there is some type of mod that can help get colder sustained air but not sure.

My A/C initially was weak the first time I ran it when it was hot. But seem to kick in after a certain time period and has been working fine ever since. Will see this week when I drive it 900 miles to Atlanta. If you want a weak A/C I use to have a 88 Volvo 240DL when you turn on the A/C it felt like you were just circulating the air from the outside.

I don't mean to insult anyone's intelligence, I just figured this out yesterday: Since I'm in the Fit by myself about 90% of the time, I closed the passenger side round vent, and directed the driver's side round vent and the left center vent to blow directly on me. in 105 degree weather yesterday I stayed pretty comfortable. Didn't even have to run it on recurc. the whole time.

I had the same issue. It seems that the dash is so hoy it heats the air right through the dashboard. Turned off and on and was coll for a bit.but went right back to blowing hot air. Any suggestions? Is this a warranty issue? Please help

Yes, drove through the Mojave Desert for about 6 hours a couple weeks ago with outside air about 120F and it stayed cool the whole time, no problems. 2010 Fit.
Lots of threads about this lately, wonder what's going on?
Edit: Maybe moist climates the condenser is freezing up? I know it's humid back east, I was in the desert.
