Gap would help if they were upside down on the loan, which is possible even in a new vehicle if they put little to no money down... But it's awesome if you ended up having rolled a prior balance into it, like if you owed money on a car that you traded in, since that entire balance would be paid off.

This my neighbor's car a few years ago. Same story. Sucks to live on a busy road. A few months after this incident a neighbor 2 doors down was t-boned and killed at 2am while backing out of his driveway. Yup, drunk driver
Um... Genesee, near Clairemont Mesa, by any chance?

When I lived in SD, I was driving one day and saw something similar... I was like: "What the...?"

Whoah spot on. Clairemont Dr. between Clairemont Mesa Blvd. and Balboa. That road is 40mph but people push over 60mph on it.

Are you from SD? Wonder if I've spotted you...

Oh... the only chance you would've seen me and my Fit, would've been last July, when I drove through. I got the Fit in June the year before that.

But yeah, I did live in SD for a few years ('04-'08). At the time, I drove a green '97 Mitsubishi Mirage. You might still see it around... as my sister-in-law's brother bought it from my folks after I had to leave it behind when moving back to Chicago. Should look pretty much like this... '97 Mirage

Actually, I was in SD over the weekend, having to deal with my brother's computer and giving my mom her iPad. It rained cats and dogs right before my flight out on Monday... surprised it didn't get delayed.

I miss SD... especially PB. Oh, the weather is SOOOOOO nice there. Doesn't get as hot as it does a bit inland. And if you want to drink... walk to Garnet and pick your poison.

Just wanted to post an update. The drunk driver actually had insurance and the Fit wasn't damaged as much as it first appeared.

My neighbor is expecting the car back by Friday and is really excited to have his new car back.

Thanks for the update on the car. So what happened to the drunk driver?

Depending on if the cops got their hands on him... he may be needing an SR-22 by now.
