2012 Fit - need a hitch rack

Hi friends, new owner and new member to this nice forum! Need some good info on mounting a hitch rack; I'm thinking 2 inch hitch with either a Thule or Swagman rear rack for 2-3 bicycles?

Any knowledge out there?

thanks!

What kind of bike is it for?
Have you looked at the Saris Thelma? I like this option because the frame does not come in contact with the rack itself.
I believe that the aftermarket trailer hitch for the fit is only available in the 1 1/4 which is a class 1.

Road bikes and mountain bikes, primarily. We can get a deal on the Thule options, but Swagman's prices look tempting.

You're saying I can only use a 1 1/4 hitch?

2010 Honda Fit Trailer Hitch | etrailer.com

I am starting to look for a trailer hitch for a bike rack for myself. I have only seen 1 1/4.

I doubt you will find a 2" hitch for the Fit.
Liability issues would involve someone trying to tow a class III trailer.

Curt does make an hitch adapter that fits in 1 1/4" receiver
and then has 2" receiver. They also go from 2 to 1 1/4".
which allows me to put cargo carrier on someones vehicle that has 2" receiver.

hitch mount for bikes

I have mounted quite a few on my various vehicles in last few years - & not difficult to do if you are handy -Probably the best one to buy would be the 1 1/4 " curt Hidden Hitch ,usually I pay about $130 shipped ,ebay has listings as well as many other places . If you have a big budget ,the best hitch carrier I have ever used is made by 1 UP costs $400 for a 1 bike rack. Pricy but is worth it. Have also had Thule 3 ,& 4 bike racks ,which were ok.

I have a draw-tite hitch on my fit, installed it about a year ago by myself (it took a while) But have had no problems with it. I use a swagman XC platform rack to hold my Jamis 29er mtn bike, I have also had no problems with that.. The only thing I dislike is that the bike rack wobbles a lot! I tried to make my own anti-wobble thing, but apparently swagman uses a custom screw thread so you have to buy the overpriced swagman anti-wobble thing.
