In Japan, they call the one with the 1.5L like the US model an RS. It differs in small ways on the exterior and interior. As for the rest of the car, it has rear disc brakes, and that's about the only notable difference. You can get the badges online.

IIRC, all US Fits have rear drum brakes.

All USDM fits have rear drums..

And rear brakes only do about 30% of the braking, so its really not a big deal. Plus, newer drum brakes are much better than what they used to be. You see a lot of cars with them now.

Didn't the older model RS's have a 6 speed instead of 5 too? And they have a suspension upgrade I'm pretty sure.

Keep in mind the 1.5l is also the most powerful engine choice for the Jazz in the JDM.

Yep, a lot of people seem to make a big deal about the Fit and similar cars having drums, all my previous cars have had 4 wheel discs and doesn't bother me one bit, esp in a car with the Fit's weight distribution and size, they could be soda bottle caps for all I care and it probably wouldn't make a difference. The Fit's braking power lies in the fact the calipers aren't powerful enough and the rotors are kinda small.

My friends new Toyota Tacoma 4Dr 4x4 TRD Off-Road edition with the V6 and towing package has drums in the rear, all of its 240hp, 1300lb payload capacity and nearly 7000lb towing capacity doesn't seem too affected by rear drums.

The only reason car manufacturers still make drum brakes for the USDM is that DOT requires a mechanical (cable operated) emergency brake and it is significantly easier and cheaper to manufacture a cable operated drum than disc. All other countries only have a parking brake law. It is not the weight of the vehicle; it is all about the e-brake. Just think, if drums were so great, all airplanes would have them. Guess how many airplanes have drum brakes…even the ones that exceed a million pounds (some 747s and A380s)! Disc brakes are lighter and self adjusting!

Drum brakes get the job done (as long as you don't drive through really deep water... I hear sloshing noises... )

It's just working on them when they are old that is a pain. I would rather pull apart disc brakes any day.

originally used for the "sporty" version of the 1g civics in the 70's in Japan. at that time, it had a more HP engine, two distinctive colors, (red and orange) and other special accessories.

pretty sure there is a special "RS" orange color to pay homage to the og civic available only on the RS fit..

Unfortunately, in the U.S., nothing!

Honda doesn't even think we qualify for a steering wheel mounted multi information display button/control, or electronic/digital (modern, non-mechanical) HVAC controls and display!

Is there really any reason for anyone to expect anyone at Honda to even consider "pitying" the U.S. market with an RS version of the Fit?

Some rear disc brakes are a real pain in the butt to work on because of the need to have a cable operated brake as well.
