Help me negotiate purchase price....
I am negotiating price for 2012 Sport Manual, by email...can tell I am going to end up paying MSRP or within $1-200 below it--plus Tax and license. For stock vehicle, no additions, which they will factory-order for me (no manuals to be had anywhere).
Is that too terrible a price? Now that I am close, I hate to wait another month or 2.

Truecar prices for Seattle area:
Dealer price 16,910
Average price 17,173
invoice 17,248
Sticker 17,680
Don't know how accurate "average" price is, offered invoice, no go. On top of this is tax, license and Doc fee of 150.

I've been planning and researching for a year to buy a Fit. Now only the price remains to be determined. There seemingly isn't much room for negotiation, plus almost no dealer wants to actually order it for me.
I just thought hardly anyone pays MSRP but I dunno...it's only a few hundred we're squabbling over.

First, working in the biz I've learned that prices suck, due to the tsunami wrecking stuff overseas, and the crappy economy that has everyone tightening up their belts so rental cars are down, ie. cars that are daily rentals that end up in used car lots for cheap are more scarce. Supply and Demand have screwed over everything, even to where I've seen used cars priced higher than new cars a few times. It's ridiculous.
I chose this car as I get a floating flat rate reimbursement for mileage on my vehicle for work, which varies on current gas prices. I was driving a V6 Ford Escape before, and the money I'm saving in gas ends up being my car payment. I love my Fit.

here have no Fit's in stock.
It was different before the tsunami when it was common for my dealer
to have ~20 Fits in stock at a given time... they've had no Fit's in stock
for many weeks now.
But, the thing is, don't let your emotions get involved with a car purchase
because that is when they reel you in.

i would try to work them into the 16s otd but not sure if thats even possible anymore. it was back in 09 when i bought mine. Keep in mind that theyll probably get you on the APR if they are willing to go that low. I would do some calling and ask for the lowest APR you can get at your local bank/credit union. Buy the car at a higher apr but with a lower out the door price. Then just pay off with the money you receive from the bank.
