Rear end damage

I was rear ended while yielding to an oncoming truck in a right turn lane.
The lady and I were AMAZED at how little damage there seemed to be. She admitted at the scene how hard she hit me.

I am concerned about "hidden damage" the bumper is buckled on the left side, it bumps up in one spot.

What do I need to make sure the repair shop looks for?

The next night my ignition broke. THe adjustor said it was common on Hondas and not related unless they found correlating (sp) damage.

I don't want to get screwed later down the road with damage they didn't catch.

They could not remove the bumper and get it in the air when the adjustor looked due to the ingnition not working. The wheel was locked at an angle.

Thanks!

When the bumper cover is removed all will be known. At least the metal bar inside the bumper will need replacing. It's a couple hundred dollars.

Keep in mind that the other driver was at fault and it's up to you and your body shop to determine what damages were caused. It's not beyond reason to think the ignition switch mechanism might have been damaged by a severe jolt to the car (unlikely, but its breaking correlates with the accident). Take it to your body shop (one recommended to you) and get your own estimate for the repair. Not being able to drive it complicates things. Contact your insurance agent if you need help/advice.

I already fixed the ignition, since insurance wasn't going to give me a rental and I need a car. Dealer wanted $1100 to replace, I found a great place that repaired it for $350.

I really wondered if anyone else had experienced similar and found things wrong. I don't know of a body shop I really trust here.

Ask your insurance agent to recommend one.

I really wouldn't want the other guy's insurance calling the shots. And claim the ignition switch as part of the accident. Worst case is they will deny it.

FYI. Most insurance have their own lists of preferred service providers based on experience and customer ratings. Yes ask for a few body shops on their list then do your own homework. As to a rental, if your insurance doesn't cover then talk to the other party's insurance and negotiate. As you said the other party already admitted fault. Good luck, be safe.
