2008 Sport w/o Fog Lamps

Hi. My wife and I have put a deposit on a nice 2008 Honda Fit Sport. In the area of the car where there might be fog lamps, there are two big holes. When I asked the salesman about this, he said the 2008 model didn't come with fog lamps...Now that we've thought about it some more, we're not so sure he was 'correct.'

We're in Vancouver, BC and are wondering if anyone can tell us if those holes should have fog lamps or what?

ps: the car was in a small collision causing ~$450 damage. We don't know the nature of this collision, but I doubt that this is a big deal...right?

Thank you!

That story about Sports not having fog lights is fluff. Sport models do come standard with fogs, its the DX, DX-A, and the LX (known as Base in US) that doesn't have them as standard.

Hmm...It seems to have mugen replica visors. A little strange to see on a dealer car. Where are the two holes on the car?

Yep, those cut outs are definitely were the fog lights would be. If this were a non Sport model without the accessory fogs installed, the holes would of course not exist at all in the bumper. So with that said, I'd call the sales person's bluff. If you do get car and new fog lights, I highly recommend getting lamin-x protective film for them.

Here in the states, one fog housing costs 160 USD plus shipping (price varies by color too). Thats only for one side and you get the lens housing and plastic, pre-painted cover. This does not include the H11 light bulb for the fog lights.

You better call and have him install fog lamps or knock the price off the total. Sounds like a stealership to me.

I would not buy from a guy who was so blatantly full of crap, even if he installed the lights.

Who knows what other BS they will pull in the future.. or what else is wrong or missing from the vehicle.

With the visors on the windows and the fogs missing it's almost guaranteed this car has been modified.

The only reason I can think of that the fog lights would be gone is due to an aftermarket turbo kit.. because to accommodate the inter-cooler and piping dictate that the fogs have to go in most cases.

You say that car was in a collision? I'd bet it rear ended someone, and they replaced the bumper, hence no fog lights.

Pass.

Great feedback from everybody. Thank you. My wife & I have been contemplating why the fog lights aren't on the car and can come up with no good reason. In the end, I feel badly that I believed the salesperson when he told me so matter-of-factly that this model doesn't have fog lights...though my mind was telling me that something looked very strange about the front end.

If they offer to install the fog lamps at their cost, I guess it's all good despite not feeling positive about the sales experience.

Again, thanks for your feedback and the time you took to help us out. We both really appreciate that! I'll let you know what the dealer says when I call them later on this morning.

Sorry for being naive, but with respect to the mugen replica visors: is it unusual for someone to install non-Honda accessories of this kind? The visors seem pretty sturdy.

I think it's amazing you guys could notice this detail about the visors.

Resolved

After giving me a hard time over the course of a few phone calls, the sales manager offered to install new fog lamps. However, that wordless feeling of something not being quite right caused us to ask for our deposit. Fortunately, the dealer will allow that.

Thanks again for everyone's help. I look forward to owning a FIT...soon!

Good for you. I would have walked away too. Something was not right w/that car.

If your gut was talking to you, you knew it as well. (even if you REALLY wanted the car)

Good luck on your hunt for a Fit!
