$18 for me to fill up the Fit this morning in San Antonio, Texas with the gas gauge sitting slight above half.
I hear all my buddies at the office complaining about shelling out $80+ to fill up their SUVs and minivans.

So true. I tried very hard to trade the fit in on something sportier a few months back but couldnt find a good deal. I dont know what Id be doing now as gas is so high and I have a far commute. I normally just put 20 in it no matter how low the tank is so that it feels like im paying as much as I normally would...I just have to pay that $20 more often as of late lol.

I've been using 87 for awhile and just decided to put 91 in last week. Going to test to see if I actually get better gas mileage or near using 91 since from what I hear 91 burns slower. The car actually feels more like it has more response and a bit more torque at the wheel. Filled up 9 gallons of 91 for $42. I'll post the details when the meter hits E.

I get the best mileage on 87 octane—the farmers out here love that 89 octane ethanol. If I can find straight gasoline here in Forgottonia (ethanol plants on every corner; farmers watching that $7 corn) the Fit will run and run.
There is no benefit to running higher octane fuel in the Fit. Higher octane only increases resistance to knock. It does not increase fuel economy or power.
People here in the country really think they need the SUVs or large pickups. They have to be going broke at the pump. It's $100 to fill a truck out here. How many people can afford that? Not for long.
Too all the Fit owners at the gas pump,
Cheers.

finesse: is $4.37 for regular or premium? I usually put 91..price difference is only like $2 for a tank. people will argue i am wasting my money, but $2 for better quality fuel? it's a bargain in my book.

i would like to know if you feel any difference, either in power or mileage with 91 vs 87.

$4.37 was for regular. Given, I could have driven a couple miles further for $4.25 gas, but I didn't want to chance it because the yellow fuel light had been on for a bit.
Since the manual said the car only needs 87, I only fuel up with that. Been reading what other people have said about using 91, and I don't really see any greater benefit, so I save $$ where I can. :P college student here.

With 91 octane I got 35-37 mpg with some spirited driving and mostly lot of city driving. With 87 octane I got 30-32 mpg with some spirited driving and mostly lot of city driving.
91 cost about 2 bucks more, but It's totally up to you to use w/e gas you want.
I think the car feels more responsive and has more torque with the 91.
If you think this is b.s. prove me wrong :]
but I'm still going to use 87 haha. I gotta save a little extra cash!!

I got up to $38 on a 10.3 gallon fill recently so I'm getting pretty close here in TX. Luckily oil dropped under 100/barrel yesterday so we should see some relief in a couple of weeks.
