Dents & Dings
#21
Ive got a ton of rock chips on the front bumper of my fit. I also have a small, lined dent on my hood (right above my honda sign) from what i guess was probably from a flying screw -- any tips /ideas how to touch these up?

No chips yet, and I found my first dent (right in front of the drivers side rear wheel) just the other day at 17,000 miles. Not bad for the amount of highway driving I do (picked the car up 4/20/2011).
The only other thing is a big bunch of gouges in the front bumper, which was my fauly and happened at ~5k miles. Left the ebrake off and the car in nutral when I forgot something inside, heard it start rolling and made a run for it but was too late and watched it roll into a concreet lampost.

Road rash.....everybody getz it..just a matter time. I re-painted my front end and applied a clear 3m bra. Super product and worth it's weight in gold if applied correctly.

Now this is where the vinyl wraps come in handy! Wrap'd my front lip not only because it looks good but it hides any nicks, chips or blemishes from road debris.

If you really take care and pride in the car's appearance, those dents and dings become very painful. I always park carefully, especially at shopping centers. I try not to get so fanatic with ding avoidance that it becomes a hindrance to enjoying my fit, but I am careful, as my wife likes to keep asking why I just passed up a "perfectly good" parking spot right by the front door. I also don't care for the fanatics who try to take up two spaces, or park diagonally over two parallel spaces to add a protective cushion. (Even if they do it off in some remote corner. For some reason seeing cars parked liked this enrages people). My new Fit is still in pristine condition. One month of daily driving and no mishaps yet. I just added a magnetbra to protect the hood, and will probably spring for the side molding at some point. From experience I know that no matter how careful you try to be, sometimes just bad luck will happen. My tolerance scale goes something like this. If after one month, you can't see dents and dings from 1 foot away, then I'm happy. If after six months, 6 feet away. After a year 10 feet away. After that, get everything fixed, and start all over again at 1 foot / month.
