I dunno I'm guess I'm alright.

I know how much distance I have and the dimensions of my car to see whether I can fit in a parking space or not.

Above average.

I've maneuvered out of some hairy circumstances.

But I imagine a larger part had to do with luck more than skill.

So I'd say I'm above average, but not a lot above average.

But then again, the average driver is pretty bad, especially the majority of SUV drivers.

I used to drive my cars much harder for fun, seeing every perfect apex of each turn. Now I'm a lot more conservative. I guess I'm just getting older.

I'm with Jonniedee... I would have selected "Average", had it been an option.

I'd hope I'm above average by at least a little. I've never been in a wreck, but that's partially luck. I've successfully used defensive driving techniques while driving (to avoid an accident), driven a car out of skids, can deal with hydroplaning, snow and ice, etc.

I think it's stuff that most drivers should learn, and I wish more people would at least consider taking a defensive driving course or skid-car class.

I'm saying above average because I don't speed, I don't weave... I even use my signal to turn into my driveway. My sister calls me Mr. Safety Tip. That said, I wasn't as cautious until I had kids.

You'll have to ask my chauffer how his driving is.

Kind of a lame poll, IMHO.

Get in, Shut up, and Hold On! LOL

I'm the guy that pulls over the people that think they're good.

I also write up the accident reports for the really bad ones.

there is a big gap even between average and good... yeah, not enough selection. you can't get realistic results...
it only shows people's confidence of driving, not reliable data....

thats the whole point.

this isnt about reliable data, this is about people's self confidence in their driving.

when we drive around, we see people who cant drive at all, wondering how they even got a valid drivers license, yet we got 90 some odd percent people claiming to be above average.

from just a performance standpoint, i'd bet 80% of the people that claiming to be above drivers cant pull off a decent heel toe downshift revmatch correctly around a turn while taking an apex. from a real life standpoint, i can pull a honda ridgeline through a door into my dealership's showroom where you have to fold both mirrors to get it through, i highly doubt anyone here can even do that in a civic.

in reality, people grossly overestimate their driving ability. it doesnt take a genius to see 9x% people thinking of themselves as above average drivers means almost half of them are wrong.

but who are you trying to correct and criticize anyway? people got the drivers license to enjoy their drivings and livings. they don't need heel and toe because it is not a requirement for normal driving on the road!
you have been posting in Fit forum talking about techniques to normal drivers.
looking at your car, you are better off talking to some advanced tuners and drivers at i-club or evolutionm.net, don't you think?
