Unhappy Gas and Oil prices on the way up again

Funny how this worked around the start of 3rd year of the last term of Bush and now Obama....

Makes any vehichle getting low MPG a low priced used car. and the Fit an even better deal.

Happy New Year!!

What are your Gas prices now then?
Because I'm pretty sure that they're no where near our prices!

Doubt prices anywhere in the USA would approach your prices, things in the UK tend to stay more expensive than the US. Unless you count the gougers.

I remember when someone came to visit from the UK a few years back... everything he bought here was essentially "half off" compared to home.

My last pump was ... I can't remember and I left the receipt in the car. I think it was $3.299 per gallon for regular (and of course, more for premium). And I think they're slowly climbing around here. Ouch man.

That's around £2.114 a gallon then. And if you think that's expensive then jeese!

My last pump was £1.249 a litre! Which is £5.67 a gallon. So around $8.84 a gallon.

So yeah we get ass-raped.
Essentially when I visit the states, everything is half the price we pay for the same goods here, bar Gas, which is even cheaper than half price.

But IIRC, you pay more per litre in taxes than you do for the gas. I suspect it's only a matter of time before that's the case here, as well.

Rising gas prices don't scare me too much. Between the Fit and my motorcycle....I'll be fine!

Amen to that... I am secretly hoping gas prices will creep higher for the same reasons

What is the average annual income in the UK? or the minimum wage? I'm gonna guess it's twice as much as in the US

Average 87 Octane right now in Los Angeles is about $2.899 a gallon. Whats the size of the tank...about 10 gallons? So even if it were to shoot up $0.10 a gallon in the next few days that means I would be paying an additional $1.00 @ the pump everytime I fill up!!! OMG! I'm gonna have to walk to work to save money!!...come on people - RELAX! We have 30+mpg cars....

Minimum wage is like £5.90 an hour. And I don't think the average annual wage is any more than the US.

It's annoying when I hear Americans complaining about petrol prices simply because you have no idea what it's like to pay for expensive petrol. Not hating on you guys, but it annoys me because I pay 3 times what you pay!

Having said that, our regular petrol is 95 octance, and super is 97, although i usually put in 99, which is around £1.40 a litre now, which is why I've switched back to regular!

During my recent back-pack trip to Europe beginning of this year, my first observation was a majority of vehicles on the roads and highways in England, France, Germany, Netherlands are smaller sized fuel efficient vehicles like Fiat, etc. So, my conclusion is price of gas does, in the long term, determine driving behavior and owning certain of vehicles to some extent amongst the general population. There will, of course, always be exceptions everywhere for folks who needs and prefer bigger vehicles, SUVs, trucks for their needs and lifestyles

Anyone bought oil in the last week? The last time I saw Mobile 1- 0/20 was 29.00 for 5 qt container @ wal-mart this summer. Motorcraft 5/20 5qt was 11.49 1/2 syn & 1/2 oil. I was talking to my Mopar buddy and he saw a big increase in $ for oil.

I do not care if gas goes up a little bit. It just means business is good for my dad (he is in the oil and gas industry). Plus unless you have driven a 30 gallon tank, gas guzzling SUV that got AT BEST 10 mpg, I wouldn't be complaining lol. I drove that Tahoe for about a year and that was when gas was expensive. It would cost me about $100 to fill up and go at best 300 miles. Now I pay less than $28 and go about 300 miles YAY FIT!!!

Amazing....FIT is a good friend of our wallets. If you no longer need the power and towing capacity of your Tahoe and continue to use your FIT, you will save about $3,456 a year assuming you are averaging 4 fill-ups a month. In 10 years, the fuel savings alone would be about $30,000

Hahaha that tahoe is LONG GONE. It died at 184,000 miles. But not the way you think.....some bitch ran a red light and hit my driver side and flipped me across an intersection and into a pole. It jammed both doors and the only way I got out was crawling out thru the window because it was on its side. No airbags went off, and after we flipped it back over we turned the key and it started up fine Ol' Bessy was for sure a tank.
