Honda Civic production stopped in Japan!

I have'nt seen any thread about this, but the honda civic will stop being sold in Japan! The Fit takes over!!!

I just said this in another thread!

In 10 years the fit will be the size of the accord now and the accord will be the size of the pilot. Honda's cars always grow up.

Nah... In the past, cars have crept up in size until becoming unfit for the market conditions (helped on by the Yom Kippur war, no doubt!) and had to be downsized.

Look at the Oldsmobile Cutlass, for example. It started out in the 1960s as a compact, similar to the Ford Falcon:



By the 1970s, it had grown to this:

In the 80's, it split into smaller FWD and RWD platforms:




By the mid 90's, it was just a rebadge of the Malibu.

Here's another example:
1982 Jeep Cherokee


1985 saw the introduction of the XJ:

...which was small by almost any standard. In fact, it was about 5 inches longer than a Fit, and about the same width. I learned to drive in one of these, and those things share the Fit's "Park it anyway" capabilities.

So, no they won't keep growing. It'll have to peter out at some point.
