Anyone with one extra Sport tire??

Well I came out this morning to drive the Fit to work and what do I notice, the right rear tire is COMPLETELY slack. Like sitting on the rim slack. Ugh....whats worse is I find a huge piece of metal of some sort right on the sidewall of the tire. Sure enough, when I get to the tire store they cannot fix it. Need a new tire! I didnt even ask them about buying a new tire.

My question is, does anyone else out there have any spare Fit Sport tires out there? I just need one. The car is less than 3 weeks old :-(

Thanks!

Tire stores are AWFUL. I went to three chains for a simple nail, and finally I got the scoop -- the major chains have *all* agreed to not fix flats, except for when very near the centerline of the tire. Each place wanted to immediately sell me 2 new tires. Welcome to America. I went to a "terrible independent", as they worded it, and got it repaired for $7 total.

pretty sure the tires have warranty, check with dealer, i think the warranty covers damn near everything for 60 days at least

I think those warranties are for defects in workmanship, not road hazard stuff. But I will check! :-)

Your tire can only be repaired, if the puncture is in the tread part of the rubber. I've never heard of any tire dealer who was willing to touch a puncture in the sidewall.

perhaps the dealer will get you a freebee. Costco did that for me one time on a day old tire which had side wall damage

if it is a sidewall puncture, you can say the tire is history. there will be no warranty as it is not a manufacturers defect. if you want the same tire, www.tirerack.com has the tire available. it is listed as the OEM Dunlop SP31 A/S and cost 70 dollars. try and stick with the same exact tire. some tire manufacturers have a very slight difference in size even when different manufacturers list the same size. ie if you have 3 dunlops dont get 1 bridgestone.

Side wall repairs are legally dangerous to a business, just think about all the lawyers standing by to sue someone or anyone if a car has an accident that a repaired tire could have been a factor, does not have to be the cause, just a factor.

A couple years agp I took delivery of a new Ford F-150 Lightning (Super high performance Truck), one of the tires had a very small gouge in the sidewall from the tie down used on the delivery truck. When I mention the damage and reminded the dealer of the Firestone Tire fiasco that Ford had just experienced, the dealer agreed to replace the tire. That tire retails for $350.00 each.

Yes, welcome to America, land of the f***ing lawyers!

That's why the chains won't patch or plug tires.

I didn't say sidewall repair, but they would only touch +/- 1 inch around the centerline or something ridiculously narrow. It was a tread area repair.

learn to patch tires guys!

it's insultingly easy to plug a tire, and unless the puncture is particulary big(like a gash or something) or if it's close to the sidewall(up to about 1 inch away from where the edge of the tire rolls up from the tread area to the sidewall) it can generally be patched.

Just keep in mind that there's also a possiblity of whatever that poked a whole in the tread of your tire, if it went in at the wrong angle, could have damaged the inside of the sidewall of your tire, which would be a very bad thing
