Thumbs up New Fit Generation

U.S. Honda Fit 2007

In China pictures have been released the next generation of the Fit. These images have found their way onto a blog however there is little information accompanying them. The little information available says the U.S market will get the new Fit version in June 2007.

I hope it does look like that. Because that makes my 07 Fit more desirable.

Regardless of what feature content the next gen Fit has or regardless of how good/bad it looks like, many will say its not as good as the current gen.

The new one looks nice. But if the 07 body style is for 1 year only, I will be keeping mine and getting the new one.

Love the Corgies. I used to work with a guy who would bring his into the office. The dog's name was Trevor, and he was great.

That is one ugly car. I think that the current one looks way better. Pluse the fact that is the first year model in the States should make resale value higher.

I doubt they'll change the body style mid year, that'd make 'em look so funky.

It says the model will come in June of 2007. That's a year away. It is not referring to June of 2006.

Also, it is not unreasonable to assume that they would change the body style in NA after only one year of availability. The Toyota Prius underwent a fundamental body change after only one year of general availability on Toyota dealership lots (not including the online ordering method which preceded general availability).

Concerning the image above, it is at this point pure speculation. Without any official announcement from Honda, or even from credible industry insiders, this information is about as valid as the Photoshopped image of the supposed next gen Fit that appeared earlier this year, which is really a hacked image of the Scion xA.

He said June 2007, not June 2006.

However, I still agree that Honda wouldn't replace the current Fit in the US that quickly. The current Fit has been available elsewhere for years, so I could potentially see them changing it in other markets in a year or so, but not in the US. People in the US wouldn't like a model change that quickly, and it wouldn't look good for Honda to launch a model in the US for only one model year. It guess it is possible, but I think it would make Honda look bad. The fact that there is even a rumor of a model change is already costing Honda sales, but right now demand is greater than supply so in the short term, it doesn't matter.

I don't see why Honda would tool their factories for the new Fit and also keep building the older style Fits for the US. They can't build enough of them. Perhaps our Fit is to test the US market. I would not mind if they change the body style after 1 year. It would make the current one more unique.
