Stashing Rear Headrests

Stashing Rear Headrests
I personally prefer to drive with the rear headrests off most of the time and stashing them safely in the car. I remember reading thread somewhere here where someone mentioned putting them in plastic bags and stashing them with the spare tire.
How the heck did you fit both headrests? I managed to fit one but couldn't really see how 2 would work while keeping the cover flat. Any insights would be appreciated.

if people are going to sit in the back, please leave the headrests there. they are not a comfort feature, but rather a safety feature. they prevent whiplash and broken necks.
otherwise, i have no idea how to fit two headrests in the spare tire area.

I dont have people sitting back there when they are out. That's the whole point of stashing them rather than taking them out of the car completely. If I need them for passengers, they are there.
hmm, under the front seats are not a good idea. According the the manual, putting something under the front passenger seat can screw up the weight sensor and turn off the airbag when it shouldn't be.

I thought they were stowing them under the rear seats, since there's very little space between the gas tank and the underside of the front seats...
Mine are in a Rubbermaid bin in my shed, as I never have rear seat passengers. Any potential multi-passenger scenario the wife and I could come up with, would put us over the weight limit, so out the headrests went. I did leave the middle one in place though, as it gives you somewhere to hook the cargo cover's loop over, to hold it up in the air, while you rummage around in the spare tire well.

Speaking of stowing, I have an emergency kit (jumper cables, flashlight, etc.) that was sliding around in the back. I used the hooks intended for the cargo net to hold it in place by looping bungi cords through the kit case handle and hooking onto the loops -- no more sliding and bumping around, and I hope this would also keep the case from flying in case of an accident (an emergency kit causing injury -- too much irony for me!). There wasn't enough room in the spare tire well and the case wouldn't fit under the seats even though it's pretty flat -- about the size of a briefcase.
