I thougth that too. That must be the most impressive time i've heard. many 0 - 60 is about 8.6

 

I kept replaying that part, and it is pretty clear to me that he said 8.2. He must be a freak driver! That, and maybe the car is broken-in really well. He didn't mention whether he used the paddle shifters though, so that might be something worth investigating.

 

He definately said 8.2 sec for 0-100K (62). I wonder about these guys. They got 0-62 in the Yaris HB in 9.4--anybody paying attention to that car's acceleration numbers to know how accurate that is? (R&T test was for the 4d sedan, 0-60 in 8.9)

 

Gotta remember here, not every car is going to perform the same. Some will get better 0-60 numbers than others. The tolerances are that different from unit to unit, even with today's advanced engineering.

Remember that claim of 0-60 in 5.9 seconds for the V6 Altima when they came out a few years ago? That was what Motor Trend got in it's full test, and no other magazine ever duplicated that number. Not even Motor Trend on subsequent tests of other V6 Altimas, even ones with more power.

The variables are endless, from injectors, to pistons, to piston rings, to fuel pumps, to tires, gears in the tranny. You name it, all the parts play a role.

Atmospheric conditions also play a role. Cooler air temps = denser air = more power.
Humidity, elevation above sea level, even breezes.

So yea, this guy coud've gotten 8.2 for 0-62 mph, but he may be the only one that ever does.

0-60 isn't why I bought my Fit. It's the total package here. Just glad it can keep up in real-world driving as well as it does.

 

I still chuckle every day when I waste some of these monster SUVs off the line with just a normal run up through the gears away from a light. They look at the car when it's next to them like it's an old Yugo -- and then they are looking at the rear of it.

 

yeah people stare at my fit...constantly last night i was coming down the road and i was passing an suv and this girl had this funny look like wow whats that!!.lol... Not to mention the feel of flying down the hiway in the little thing especially thru traffic..!!

 

Great video and hype for the Fit! This is the stuff that makes me feel smart about buying my car. The video mentions buying lots of lint rollers. We had an earlier thread about the upholstery being a magnet for lint and pet hair and everyone recommended lint rollers as our only hope, including me. At a local Walgreen's in their tiny automotive section I found a terrific car vac --- called Ultra-Vac (patent pending), $16.99, it plugs into the cigarette lighter, has a brush attachment that does a great job on the upholstery, plus a crevice attachment that also cleans along the seams (especially where the grey seat fabric attaches to the black). The brush attachment also has a plug-in extension cord that allows it to separate from the vac for further reach. I toted bunnies and a dog to the vet and even with sheets over the upholstery, the hair got all over the seats. The vacuum did a fabulous job. There may be other brands that offer attachments. This one is small, about the size of a dust buster, with thick, sparsely spaced bristles that pick up the pet hair, etc. plus brush up the nap on the fabric. Walgreen's is a national chain, so I hope you can find the Ultra-Vac (or something similar). I bought the only one on the shelf at my local store. Either they don't carry many at a time, or the word is out. Excellent product! And thanks for that excellent video!
