Sports Mode, Paddle Shift

My car will not engage in the sports mode, when it's in S mode, it just drives as if it's in the D mode. Anyone has this experience and how did you resolve it? I'm hoping for a simple fix cause Honda wants $210 to diagnos.

I don't know if this is a stupid response but, you have to play with the paddle shifters when you shift to S, or else it reacts like it is in D. Did you already try using the paddles yet?

yah, you have to hit one of the paddles to enter manual-shift mode. otherwise it's in sport shift mode which is still automatic.

but if you rev high it will shift up on its own even in manual mode. so it's still in automode. very confusing transmission.

It should be noted that this is a kinda good thing. If you're making a sharp turn out of a parking lot or something, you can lose the paddles for a second. This way, you can accelerate as needed then shift manually when the wheel returns to a relatively normal position.

yah, or just floor the thing and it will shift up automatically when it hits redline. im pretty fedup with that donky paddle spinning with the steering wheel. it's a bad design. paddles need to be stationary on the steering column. imho, i think the AT civics with the standard non-sport shift gear lever has better control over the car's drive train and manual gear selection than the Fit's AT paddles.

lol... i've used the paddle shifter before and no this is not a user error. I know how they work. The problem that i have is that the S mode and paddle shifter no longer engage. I'm always in D mode even if i'm in S gear. Cruise control will not engage either. They've told me it may be some kind of switch problem or something else. There's no signal going to the computer for those two items at all.

hi, i dono if u still go on fit freak at all. but apparently.. this is a pretty rare problem, since i cant find anything on google. My S mode also will not engage. did you ever find out what the problem was? My cruise control still works..but not the S. it's a shame, cuz i use it quite often to drive at lower gears.
