Fit ranked among 10 Hardest to Get Cars in the US

i bought mine in the peak gas prices june 2008 also and only waited a week, but blue was my first choice and none to be seen. so ended up with BOM
I think it's like anything else out there, and the m/t are the more popular choice in this car so that imo is the reason for the shortage. there could be a little dealership bias toward auto b/c most cars sell more autos but not this little sport. how many m/t accords or elements or ridgelines do you see out there? 1 in 1,000 but m/t fits are outnumbering the a/t fits.
my $.02

I bought my car 7/19/10. I'd been shopping for a month prior.
The dealers around here were more than happy to make deals on Fit Sport A/T's. Even more so on the models with Navi.
However, on the base models and the Sport M/T.. they wouldn't budge on MSRP. Nor could I find a single Blue Sensation Pearl. Ron Tonkin Honda in Portland flat out told me they wouldn't deal on the M/T base I wanted, nor could they get me the color I wanted. I told them no thanks. Two other dealers tried.. and failed.
Beaverton Honda, found me a base M/T in BSP and sold it for $15,130 to me. Interestingly enough, no idea how true this is, but the sales asshat told me that some gal really wanted to buy my car. It was the only BSP M/T on the lot and as far as I could tell based on 5 local dealers the only BSP M/T in the Portland metro area at the time, base or sport.
All dealerships suck, Beaverton Honda tried to bone me on dealer warranty stuff, though I managed to get a new contract that included just the car and floor mats. The finance guys at Beaverton Honda are slimey, but I think that's just typical of the car dealer industry. Why it can't be straight forward I don't know.
In the end.. I got my car at a price that I was okay with(supposedly dealer invoice if the internets are to be believed). I love my car. The dealer's service department seemed top notch and took the time to talk to me. I won't be doing oil changes at the dealer.. will do it myself.

I just bought my 2010 Fit sport 5spd yesterday. I work at a Honda dealership in Nashville and had them looking for me a car since the last week of July. It had to be a 5spd and my first choice was Taffeta white. Soonest they could get me one was late September early October. I said screw waiting that long, and asked well how about any color in a 5spd. I got lucky and we just got a crystal black pearl 5spd sport in on monday afternoon. I said ill take it!!! haha. Loving it so far, although keeping the black clean is going to be the death of me!!

I just bought a 2010 last weekend. They had about 10 or so at the dealership I went to. There is about 20-25 total in the STL area, that I know of, and less than half of that are manuals. I wanted Blue Sensation, none within a couple hundred miles at least, so ended up with my second choice Blackberry pearl. When I was at the dealership, people were looking at them/buying them like crazy. Good thing they were buying the base's, I got my sport.

I had to drive 130 miles to get a used one, of course MT was a requirement! The dealer I bought from had the '10 BOM Sport AT, but my certified '09 TBM MT Base sat on their lot for several months. I found a sticker tonight in the glove box where they were asking 17150 for it originally, but they had it down to 13995 when I found it. (I paid 13250) There was also a black '08 Sport for the same price somewhere else in St. Louis at the same time, and several automatics.
