spare tire

dear honda,

why did you have to make the fit so inconvenient to NOT have a spare tire?
i had a nail stuck in my tire in heavy rain, called honda's 'one year service' thing, people came..and said they couldn't help me because i had no spare tire.
i was soaked in the rain.

i love everything about the fit except for this one thing.
very disappointed.

If I recall correctly, Canadian Fits do not come with a spare at all; regardless of year model or trim level.

Anyway, back to the topic. Your Fit didn't even have a tire repair kit stashed in the rear cargo area, the storage slot in the right side of the rear cargo area, or in the underseat storage compartment (GE8s have that)? If it didn't, then that is lame on Honda's part. The least Honda could have did was supply a tire kit or even run flat tires for that matter.

Hello,A spare tire is an additional tire (or tyre - see spelling differences) carried in a motor vehicle as a replacement for one that goes flat, a blowout, or other emergency. Spare tire is generally a misnomer, as almost all vehicles actually carry an entire wheel as a spare, as fitting a tire to a wheel is very difficult without specialised equipment, and is not practical in an emergency.

Your point other than being an azz?

Also an Entire wheel won't be much help without an Entire tire mounted and inflated on it.

We have tire kits instead of a spare here.

Like "Slime" or Fix-a-flat?

If you don't have a spare, what goes into the spare wheel well instead?

Nothing does, well mine came with a hard foam container that housed the tool kit and punc kit. Currently that has been removed and a small box with 8" sub resides in its place and the punc kit and tools take up residence in front of the box and against the wall of the well.

In Canada, the MT Fits come with a spare tire, others come with a tire repair kit. Dealers insist that no one purchases spare tires. Dealers (parts) have a replacement kit which removes the repair kit (and plastic insert etc) and replaces with a kit that includes a spare tire (donut tire they call it) mounted on a wheel etc, for about 300 bucks! Such a nice car but Honda went cheap by not supplying the spare tire in the first place for ATs, and the cargo cover also is not included! Another 300 or so bucks! :-( -- Tinting is cheaper if cargo privacy is the concern!

Hello guys

Here are the links to get the Spare Tire Kits, the Sport Model use a different size of spare tire.

FIT SPORT SPARE TIRE KIT
Sport Model 135/80/15 Tire
42700-S5A-901 Steel Wheel (tire include)
83853-SA7-980 Anchor Bolt
83850-SD2-000 Anchor Bolt Plate
42762-TK6-C10 Tire Info Warning Label

FIT DX/LX SPARE TIRE KIT
DX/LX Models 125/70/15 Tire
42700-S5A-901 Steel Wheel (tire include)
83853-SA7-980 Anchor Bolt
83850-SD2-000 Anchor Bolt Plate

Other option, you can search on eBay spare tires from USA sellers, they can include the anchor bolt + anchor bolt plate (ask them before buy)

Some pics from my spare tire ordered on eBay, the seller sent to me the anchor bolt + anchor bolt plate, our canadians Honda Fit have the fixing nut on the chassis.

Honda Fit Sport - Spare Tire must be 135/80/15, the steel wheel size is 15x4J

Hope this will be useful

Luis
