North American CVT fit?

Why doesn't honda sell a CVT fit for North America? They're sold in asia.

I had a Honda Civic AT as a rental and I wanted to take a baseball bat to the AT, it kept hunting through gears and I felt like I was always fighting it. I drove a 2006 Civic Hybrid and the CVT by comparison was an absolute pleasure, even despite the "rubber band" effect when pushing the accelerator. The Civic AT would often groan on hills before deciding to downshift, while the Hybrid CVT never had problems... despite the lower HP the hybrid never felt like it was straining.

Its sold in the rest of the world too - we have it in UK. Do thye have a CVT for the 1.5VTEC engine? Most (but not all) of the rest of the world uses a i-DSi engine
