Sales are holding at a steady level so far, pacing at about 12% better than last year. I expect Honda will see around a 15% increase in sales for the whole year, maybe less when taking the clunker stimulus into account.
Fit sales have picked up strongly as we approach the summer months when gas prices typically increase. Fit prices have been on a downward trend for a couple of months, but it is probably nearing a bottom as sales increase. Buying before June would be a good idea, otherwise wait until August for end of the model year sales and dealerships possibly pushing sales quotas to match last years Cash for Clunkers success.

mother works for an auto group including honda. She says the fit is hard to come by. Not sure about the rest of the U.S. THe only one that they do have in stock is the mugened out one, and they are asking way too much for it. At least sales are up though.

I get the same story from my local dealer. They say Fits are very hard to get, and the Honda reps tell them to push customers into Civics and Accords. Obviously, dealers can't sell cars they can't get, and it looks like Honda isn't exactly trying to flood the market with Fits.

Has demand for the Fit gone down? Prices dropping (beyond even that of 09 recession-level discounts) when inventory is already limited leads me to believe it has. I wonder what has caused this drop. Maybe the "newness" has finally worn off the GE8?

I was fortunate enough to find a 5 speed after visiting two other dealerships. First dealer only had one Fit on the entire lot, the other had 3. The third and final one just got a shipment of them, so they had a total of 6, and only one manual of the group. When I told him I wanted to test drive the manual he said "WE HAVE A MANUAL?!". But I got my Fit and are happy

My purchase is included in these numbers. I bought my Fit on April 29th--won't get it until next week as they needed to trade to get the color I wanted.
If you want a base model or do not care about color you can find one.
Looks as though the special .9% & 1.9 % financing for the Fit is no longer available. Only specials now are for the Accord & Civic.

The last S2000 rolled off the assembly line in August of 2009. Those 12 cars sold in April are leftovers in the truest sense of the word. In 2002, the year I bought mine, U.S. sales of the S2000 were around 10,000 units. The S2000 was in reality a very successful model, but it has run its course. And let us give credit for the fact that getting 240 hp from only 2.0 liters, without any super/turbo charging is truly a remarkable feat.
