Splash shield busted - fix or remove?
The stupid splash shield or whatever under my car is being held on by it's last clip. The dealer keeps adding replacing it to the "recommended service" any time I go in too and that's annoying. Last week it came loose and was hanging by one clip and dragging on the ground so I shimmied under the car and zip tied it in place. Once it stops raining I'm gonna put it up on ramps and fix it.
Should I just remove the damn thing completely or go to Vatozone or O'reilly's and get some clips and put it back? What do you guys think?

The only clips that will work worth a damned are the ones from Honda... It is best to order some from a dealer that sells them online and keep them in the glove box.... I really hate those clips.

Picture the Lamborghini Forums, My Gallardo undertray is hanging on by its last clip...... So true, and so funny. I would keep it unless it looks like it has been drug down the highway. Mine is Zip-tied because I'm too cheap to buy more clips, and the Honda ones break too easy any ways

Never thought of the Zip ties!
I got a bag (15 or 20 count) of the clips from this eBay seller and can recommend them. These clips look and work exactly like the overpriced Honda original clips and cost a whole lot less. Their best prices, BTW, are in their store and not on the auction pages.

Here's the GE plastic front splash shield:

So back to the original question, what's the point of this thing? Just makes working underneath the car harder imo. Why wouldn't I just leave it off?

Splash pan keeps rain water from splashing up into the engine bay and finding expensive electric pieces to try.
They usually also play some sort of role in cooling by directing the flow of air through the radiator and out of the engine compartment.

If it's getting beat up, it's doing somthing. Probably something worthwhile, like shielding things from whatever the car's underside is being beaten against.
