Aveo -- no comparison!
Funny to see these comments. My Fit arrived April 18, but dealer wouldn't release it until the 20th. They agreed to let me see it, and I showed up in a rental Aveo. I whined about being stuck in the Aveo for another 2 days -- tinny ride on the highway, very poor cornering, lousy acceleration, noisy, cheap plastic interior, no satisfying thump when the door was shut. They took pity on me and agreed it wasn't fair to leave me stuck in it while I was waiting for official Fit release on a car I'd already paid for. They put me in a CR-V loaner, called Enterprise, and had them pick up the Aveo. On the way home in my Fit on April 20 I rounded the same corner that threw the Aveo -- no problem for the Fit. While my daughter's borrowed Camry was in the shop I also rented a Kia Rio, and it was an improvement over the Aveo. The only comparison between the Fit and the Aveo is the rear view -- but I'll bet the Aveo wouldn't hold up nearly as well in a collision.

I think the original poster was just saying they look similar, not that they are the same in other ways.
I agree that they look similar. The rear and side views are very similar. The front is somewhat similar. For most people who don't know the cars very well, I'll bet people will confuse them. Even people on this board have said they've seen what they thought was a Fit from a bit of a distance and it turned out to be an Aveo.
The difference in exterior looks is nothing like the difference between a Porsche and a Ferrari. It is more like the difference between a Porsche Boxster and a Porsche 911 Convertible. If you know the cars, you can easily tell the difference. If you don't, they look about the same.
Looking similar to an Aveo doesn't change the build quality, space, and gas mileage of the car, which are probably most people's primary reason for buying it. That's where the Aveo falls short and that's why the Fit can cost alot more than the Aveo and still sell well.

The tail lights are a dead give away.
Also gas tank has no "finger hole bump", it has two marker lights one near the front one near the back that the Fit does not have any of, no tiny little triangle window in front of the front windows, headlights are waaaaay different.
Oh yeah and the front is ugly that lower grill thingy makes me physically sick.

You guys are funny.
I saw one drive by me when I was walking the mutt, had to do a double-take but it was obviously not a Fit. Very similar though, you really have to admit, but yes it is not the same.
I still haven't seen a Fit while I've been in mine. So far I've only seen 2 since the release. Where is everybody?
