possibly another recall?

i just heard here at the dealer i work at that 07-08 honda fits, elements, odyssey's are having braking problems with soft peddles

there seems to be air getting into the brake lines but they are not sure what exactly is causing it master cylinder, brake booster or brake lines.

just thought i would share with you guys. apparently parts wont be available till april

The Fit brakes suck? I must have got some super secret dealer upgrade, because my brakes work great.

Me too! Only thing I have noticed is that anti-lock activated more often than other cars I have owned. I figure that this is due to the fact that I was used to driving SUVs and the Fit is by far the lightest car I have ever owned. Some might equate anti-lock operation with brake weakness, I equate it with brake strength, the car is keeping itself from locking the wheels. Weak brakes would have a harder time locking the wheels (IMHO). If there is a problem with air in the brake lines, I'll definately go for the recall, I just haven't experienced it, in my 75K miles of Fit ownership. After 75K my brakes have still over 50% front linings remaining, backs are practically new.

The press release for the recall announced today only has Elements and Odysseys with VSA on it: Statement by American Honda Motor Co., Inc., Regarding VSA Modulator Recall - Honda.com

Seems like the Fit isn't affected .

Even though I've owned my 2007 Fit for less than a month, so far, so good as far as the brakes go. I avoid hard braking anyhow. For example when I see a stoplight turn red my deceleration mode begins.

I notice the brake problem too especially when wet. When its raining try slamming on the brakes and it sometimes slips then will grab. This was lessened when I replaced the brake pads. But it may have happened only to my Fit?

not trying to be a smart ass here, but in driver's ed, we were taught to ride the brakes for a short period of time when in rainy weather to dry them. Basically long enough to heat/dry them, takes all of about 10 seconds.

and this was the first i heard the fit was mixed in. watched the news at my lunch (1.30) and only the 07/08 Odyssey and Elements were effected.

guys i posted possible recall i didnt say THE FIT HAD A RECALL on the brakes. i was just informing you guys from what i heard here at the honda dealer i work at.

no need for anyone to freak out or worry over their brakes. if you think you have a problem with your brakes you should get that checked out ASAP due to risking your life and others on the road.

AGAIN if honda does decide to recall the fits they will announce it.

so far so good though

Lightbulb Walk the Walk Talk the Talk............

Keep 'em straight 2ndspassed!
The brakes on MzFiT stop really fast. I changed them out about a year ago to drilled rotors.

The only time I developed air in my brake fluid and lines was when my instructor made three full-commitment laps at Batangas Racing Circuit last month. He pushed my car with so much late braking that the DOT4 fluid boiled and the pedal went long before it grabbed. Otherwise I've never had air in my fluid.

As for them sucking...I disagree. Pedal modulation isn't their strong suit, but retardation is pretty good.

If Fits end up being affected by this issue it will only be '09 and up (USDM). First gen fits don't have VSA, therefore no VSA modulator which is the focus of the recall.
