is honda really serious re: mat anchors
so we bought our fit sport used, and wasn't aware of the floor mat anchor thing. anyway, the person had the floor mats in the car, but the anchors were no where to be found. honda wants $16.50 PER ANCHOR!!! wtf!

My new 2010 Fit didn't even come with floor mats. I ordered the mats and have tried to install the anchors per instructions. No dice. Ridiculous. I suspect the earlier post's car didn't come with anchors cause the owner lost them. Probably couldn't fit them in either. They are a pain and cheap plastic things...arrgh.

Maybe if you remind honda about Toyota's stuck gas pedal issue, and how it may be caused by the floor mat slipping... they might lower the price... also try college hills honda... they have parts for way less than your local dealer...

That would be them. Maybe $33 installed for two is what he meant.
there's an indentation in the carpet and the vinyl carpet insert where to cut for the anchors. Other than a band-aide I didn't need any special tools or skills to install them.

thank you for linking that page.
all i know is when i called and asked the guy said $16.50 each. this was the parts counter, so i don't know if that included the installation.
in my 08 it looks like the carpet is already cut...maybe the owner before me did it, but who knows.

At least you purchased your Fit used from an uninformed owner.
We just bought a Fit for our daughter. The salesrep talked us into getting the All Weather Floor mats which they installed (if you call opening the bag and tossing them onto the floor "installing").
When we got home, we noticed the floor mats in back didn't seem to fit right. We swapped them and they were fine.
A couple weeks later, my wife was looking through the owner's manual and saw a warning about making sure any optional floor mats on the driver's side are properly anchored so they don't interfere with the pedals. We went an looked at the car. No anchors. And the mat was slide up to where it could get snagged on the accelerator pedal.
Ours is an egregious case of incompetence, but this is a safety issue so Honda should make the Fit driver's side floor mat with anchors a standard feature of the car so there's no danger of someone putting aftermarket mats in that slip forward. Sure, they may not be legally liable, but they should be doing everything possible to keep their customers safe.
