My only complaint is that it doesn't have enough power.
You could end up spending 6,000+ turboing the L15, or ~3000 doing a k20 swap.
Check out my site for more information.

Now that I've had my Sport AT for 4 months, and racked up over 8,000 miles, my list of "cons" is shorter. Only 2 significant complaints: (1) Gas tank is too small so I have to stop for fuel frequently (long commute); and (2) I expected to get better fuel economy.

I thought I'd mind not having adjustable seat height and telescoping steering wheel, thought I'd miss having more variations on wiper speed and a dead pedal, but don't mind any of that. Now that I have a good car vac, the upholstery (color & texture) aren't so problematic anymore. If Honda ironed out every little issue for me, I probably wouldn't be able to afford the Fit! Its "pros" so far outweigh drawbacks that I consider it my perfect Fit.

I guess that's it.

Except for these tiny things (which can probably be remedied with a visit to the dealer and a Dustbuster), I LOVE the car though. It's so much fun to drive. I love the way the instrument panel/dash lights look. It's so easy to parallel park in the city. Sorry, I could go on and on...
It's really easy to adjust the headlights yourself. My wife didn't think they shone far enough, a comon complain with some owners. If you open the hood and look at the back of thepassenger side headlight you'll see a grey round metal disk with a 3/8 screwhead you just crank that upwards three times and the headlights will adjust up. Good to do it at night against a wall to see how much you adjust them.

The only things I don't like is the center console not having an arm rest and not having anywhere to hide anything while I am at work all day.

Small gas tank.

Placement of the tranmission oil dipstick.

Lack of cruise control on the base model.

Other than that, I have been enjoying the Fit!

After owning it a few months I definitely know the most annoying thing about this car:

Small gas tank. Can you say 240 mile crusing range in the City (from F to E with the fuel light coming on)? You can with a Honda Fit!!

A 10.8 gallon fuel tank is ridiculous in any car.

I think if you look around, you'll see that a 10 gal. or 250 mile real-world cruise range is more common than you think. My mom's '05 Neon has a 10 gal. tank and gets much worse MPG than the Fit.

The car my Fit replaced was a Nissan 240SX (read: small/sporty car), which had a 15.9 gallon tank and got 24 28.

My wife's car (a compact car, for the poster 2 above this), also has a 15.9 gallon tank and being a VW Jetta Wagon (33 44), has a crusing range of about 550 miles.

So i know it CAN be done, it just wasnt done.

Unfortunately, its "slow" that causes poor gas mileage. Going fast (ie: interstate driving), i could get 300-330 easily too, from F to E.

.........

I would have gotten the civic instead just for the extra 3 gallons in the tank (and same gas mileage)

I am quoting myself "I get 300-330 miles and I don't go slow.............NEVER!"

When I mean I don't go slow I mean I am driving every day to work ( in the mountains) and I am driving like I am in a solo 1 or rally F1, so it is really fast in 3rd and 2nd ( the only way I can hold to the twisties so the rpm's are always at 3k to 4k (anyway between 2-3k the exhaust drones inside) so technically I am always in a race against the clock I barely do any highway and (yes every day but for 2 miles or so) when I do serious freeway driving, you bet I am going 75-85mph.

By the way and to counterpart myself, I got only 23.03871MPG on the last fill (at 1/4 to 1/2 tank) and the tank before this one was 35MPG. Saying this I really beat the poor fit this time, not to mention that the gas brand also has a BIG influence on how it is consumed. Don't know why but It is true.

Average since 4,536.3 miles when I started a MPG LOG I have averaged 30.03422MPG, but I had measured up to 36MPG on previous readings before the log.

P/D sorry for my english....I just almost write it here in this forums....work e-mails don't count right?

What have really piss the h__l out of me is the fact that I had already 2 flat tires in 6,649 miles......MAN THE TIRES SUCK!!!!!!

And I am trying to find time off work ( the service for waranties dont work on saturday ) to take the Fit to make a claim for the paint peeling and the stuff that sticks the white protection film from the factory or the vessel it is in some edges in the front of the roof, and the hood, so I will try to make the dealer paint the front bumper, and paint or polish the hood and roof to make this stains go away.

Have anyone has spot that inyour fits?

Please advise.

LOVE my FIT but here are a couple of things that I don't like:

-NO DEAD PEDAL: I never noticed how valuable this until I did not have it. Its such a hassle to try to rest my foot somewhere now that I dont have a dead pedal. Getting my walet out of my back pocket sucks too.

-NO ARM REST! Its not a big deal because I am used to resting my arm on the shifter, but it would be nice to have a place where I can store stuff, like my drugs....lol

-The visibility in the rear view mirror SUCKS with the head rests in place on the backseats. I took mine off to prevent me from not seeing out the back window.

-The front bumper is really low. I almost scratched it up pulling into a spot with that cement barrier thing at work today....thank god I was like a centimeter away before I noticed how low it really is.

-I wish it had a bigger fuel tank.

-More power would be nice but I aint complaining yet because I am still "breaking it in" and plus its a lot quicker/better than my previous piece of crap.....lol

......thats it SO FAR.....I will post some more IF anything else comes up....lol

Just adding one more:

-No locking glovebox.

aside from whatever one else wrote...

the bottom of the seats, that plastic part. The front corner nearest the door. my pants get stuck in it a lot.

Due to the shape, the back of the car gets really dirty... and quick.

the side curtain air bags make the front corners blind spots. (driver side window to the front wind shield.) I think I loose about 20-30 degrees of vision.

no cargo hooks on the front, when the seats are down.

5-6 psi loss in the tires every week or 2. (I guess thats normal..?)

antenna way too easy to steal.

back windows don't go all the way down

not enough light(s) in the back when the tail gate is open

non-programable computer. I was really hopeing I could program the lights inside the car... among other things... interact with the sensors... etc... I'll probably end up putting my own embedded system into the car to control the minor stuff... or not.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trading in the fit anytime soon... (well, unless a CVT version of the fit comes out...) I've had my last honda since '93.

Indeed. Our '99 Escort has a 10 gallon tank, as well. The MPG's weren't bad at all, though. Same with my fiance's '04 Aveo - small tank, decent MPGs. It's annoying when you have a small tank with crappy fuel economy, but what can you do?

I don't see the problem with a small fuel tank, as long as you're getting fair fuel economy. 10.8 gallons is fine with me; then, I've never known bigger.

This is an interesting discussion. The question that comes to my mind as I read the "wish lists" is what will that cost and would I be willing to pay for it because nothing in life is free.

I guess having a range that exceeds 400 miles rather than "just" 300 miles (I have a M/T which delivers 30+ mpg all the time) would be nice but that might mean that my Fit couldn't have the Magic Seat feature because the larger fuel tank would have to go some place. I prefer the magic seat over the extra range.

I agree with the locking gas cap. That might cost Honda $5 vs costing me $30to buy it as an accessory.

The radio antenna works as well as my previous car in the same area. Is it too easy to steal? Well my experience is that if someone wants it and they can't get it easy then they just break it which usually costs more to fix, so i like the antenna as it is.

I agree that the Fit needs an Arm Rest. This is an other item that Honda could supply as a std feature at less than half the cost of the after market accessories, and everyone would probably appreciate.

Dead pedal...probably an easy design modification that would make the car more comfortable.

The item that I haven't seen mentioned is the position of the wiper stalk. I seem to keep bumping into it, then there is no indication where it is set once the wipers are on. The stalk for the lights indicates what position it is in but the wiper one doesn't. I would prefer the stalk being moved away from the steering wheel a little and an indicator for the position function selected.

When I think about the cost of the Fit and how well it is designed and made I'm really pleased with my purchase decision. Few cars deliver as much value.
