Exclamation headlight aiming - probably it is fine

Several threads on this in case you've not seen them. Someone did a comparison and realized that for him the brightness of the headlights on the road produced an illusion of needing them to be aimed higher- he was still getting the proper overall illumination but thought illumination was "stopping" where the brightness on the road stopped (which is not true).

You can still be unhappy if you want

Where exactly do you put your left foot?
From the service manual, it looks like the fuel tank is under the center console of the front seats (under the handbrake). Unless you cross your left foot and bring it in...

Sometimes I do, actually.

I drive an AT, and on long drives tend to shift my left foot around to different positions, streching out or bending my knee to keep comfortable. One thing I got used to in previous cars was having my left leg bent and crossed over so my left foot was on the floor more or less under my right knee. Can't do that on the Fit due to the gas tank.

Sure it may not affect many other people, and almost certainly not anyone with a MT, but after all this thread is titled "What don't you like about your Fit".

1. A/C needs to be stronger. The 28 degrees Celsius days we've been having is killer when in traffic...A/C doesn't quite keep you as cool as you would like if the sun is on ya.

2. Taffeta White. Dammit why do us Canadians get shafted and get the silver instead of the white?!?!?

3. Sunroof. Not really necessary, but would be nice to have.

4. Dead Pedal. Wouldn't mind one of these from the factory.

Other than those few minor things, everything else is fine and dandy. No problems.

I agree, where is the dead pedal? But I used to own a lot of honda hatchbacks and i think the fit is those great hatchbacks but refined and with four doors. I sold my VIII EVo for this Honda...way cheaper insurance and almost as fun!

We've had ours for a week now and there's very little I don't like about the Fit. The only things I can think of are some things that have been mentioned before:
1. The black seats pick up lint/cat hair like crazy.
2. The steering wheel could really use a telescoping feature. I'm still experimenting with finding a really comfortable driving position. The pedals are a lot more straight up and down than what I'm used to, so when I slide the seat back to compensate, the wheel feels an inch or two too far away. I moved the seat back to a more upright position the other day and that helped.
3. Merging onto the highway from a very short ramp can get a little hairy. The automatic takes a while to get from 30-60. At highway speeds it's fine and it is a fantastic city car, however.

The A/C works fine for me. Even in 90 degree Chicago heat and humidity, I never have to go higher than 2 on the dial. I haven't really tested the headlights to see if they're too low. Considering you have to go about 50 miles in any direction from where we live to find an unlit road, it's not too pressing a concern.

1. Canadian pricing. Had to pay $25000 CAD out the door for Sport Auto.
2. Lacking some stuff which comes standard on others. Floor mats, arm rest, cargo cover, locking gas cap. This adds up. Minus the arm rest which I may or may not get, I've spent approx $320 CAD on accessories, + $400 CAD on a Clear bra
3. Lacking stuff which cannot be added: seat height adjustment, fully reclining backseat

I felt the same way but after two months of driving I never notice anymore!

1) I can feel every bump in the road
2) No seat height adjustment (I'm a short girl!)
3) Not getting good city gas mileage
4) Car heats up quickly in the sun

I think I remember seeing something on this - some non-US models have a seat height adjustment, and I think people figured out the US model is set to the maximum height that the adjustable models could be set to. It's been a while since I read that, though, so I could be remembering wrong.

Get the windows tinted with a good quality heat-blocking tint. Even a light tint, if it has good heat blocking, can make a huge difference. (Be sure to get a tint with a lifetime warranty from the manufacturer.)

I just don't like the drum brakes in the rear. I wish it was disc-brake instead.

I saw an Fit the about a couple of weeks ago and it has a moon-roof or sunroof.... one of them. Wished mine came with it or see if the dealer had any showroom Fit at the time.

I've only had my Sport AT for 2 days and the things I don't like are minor, anyway:

-no floor mats (I got some at Walmart and they were cheap, but really these should be standard on any car, and my dealer agrees). I used small throw rugs for the back floor.

- no cargo cover, which I did purchase, but again, this should be standard

-some others have mentioned the lack of room for your left foot--I have to agree. I tend to switch positions of my left leg and foot, especially on long trips, and I can already tell that I won't be able to stretch my left leg out fully as I could in my 92 Civic DX hatchback. If I put the seat back enough to enable me to do this, my arms will be too stretched out for comfortable driving.

-no locking gas cap--I liked the interior release handle in my old Civic

-the stereo could use some more "oomph". the sound is pretty good but I like a little more power in mine. Unfortunately I don't think there is anyway to put in an aftermarket stereo.

-the lower bar on the steering wheel is right in the middle...that is where I like to put my right hand if I'm not using both hands on the wheel. Annoying, but I'm sure I'll get used to it.

my a/c works fine, and it's been humid and nasty in Philly lately.
I have yet to drive at night (tonight after work will be the first time) so I'll be able to check out the headlight angle then.

Yeah, that was me . I noticed not long after I got mine - the first thing I did when I drove it off the lot in San Antonio was drive up to work in Round Rock (just north of Austin).

Aaah, that had been bugging me too! I forgot to mention it when I posted earlier though. Not too big a deal but it keeps throwing me off.

One other thing - the stereo's power button seems overly easy to press. I keep accidentally turning it off when I'm reaching to change the volume.

I don't like the non locking gas filler door and also there is no button to pop the hatch from the driver's seat area.
I can confirm this complaint. I too found the seats to be uncomfortable at first, but being used to S2000 seats that fit me like a glove, any normal seat will be uncomfortable. I have since gotten used to the seats.

I've had my FIT for about 5 weeks and I love it. I've already:
1-purchased a center arm rest and it's perfect (after-market)
2-purchased a locking gas cap (Honda)
3-added a protective applique for the rear bumper (Honda)
4-found a coin holder in Target that fits in the cup holder
and...
5-no desire for a sun/moon roof
6-I'll be looking into the dead pedal when available (after-market)
7-love the stereo and the AUX input is perfect for my Sirius receiver
8-I do wish the gas tank was a little bigger but...
9-I've been getting 30+ mpg

Interesting thread on the Edmunds Fit forum about different markets for the Fit and whether the vehicle's body has been truly "flipped" for right hand drive vs left hand drive. Seems pretty likely that some of the missing things (seat adjustment, locking gas cap, vanity mirror on passenger side) have to do with this flipping issue.

Yep... after owning the car for a few months now, I am totally used to the seats and no longer feel uncomfortable in them. Funny what comfort familiarity will bring.

I'd rather not have to push the remote twice to unlock all doors. But this is industry wide and not mutually exclusive to Honda. It's a lousy idea that seemed to appear first on Ford's, several years back.

A funny thing

I have a carpooler that is probably 5'3" if that... and she is complaining about how tight my FIT is... as in cornering etc. I told her that was what the little 'hold-on' was above the door was used for! The first thing she bought for the "New Car-warming' gift was a mirror to go on the passenger's visor. I thought it a bit weird that the only mirror was on the driver side visor! That is one reason I drive... she is a make-up freak! While driving she will pull up to a stoplight... well sort of as sometimes she completely blocks the pedestrian crosswalk... she will pull out her suitcase size (yeah really) and proceed to put her makup on! And, at 60+ mph she will dial her cell phone to talk to her hubby and stear with her knees all the time looking down at her 'phone! While she is driving (past tense) I would fall asleep (or try to) to avoid the freaky ride. One time her Treo back light went out: and so she would have to hold her cell to the side of her open window so she could see the screen! And of course this meant that she would keep her eyes from the road longer... and, yes, I was very tempted to grab the steering wheel
