best ive done so far in combined city/highway is 34mpg but were at almost 4000ft above sea level so that should affect significantly.
Most avenues here are 40-45mph and sloped so i do a lot of Neutral cruising to save up on gas. I try to make my routes in a way that im going down most of the time or take the highway and cruise control on 60mph

The draft works sometimes but other times it works opposite. Some drafts sucks you in but other pushes you away. I know for sure cause I also ride a motorcycle and I feel every bit of it.

355 miles before filling up comes up to about 39 mpg no? Cause thats exactly what I'm getting as well.

Hmm i can see 50mpg at most. I use to get 40mpg in my MT 08 Fit. Now in my AT 08 Fit i got 36.7mpg and 36.5mpg. But 55mpg and up are hard to believe. Don't use the computer or scangage to get mpg they are wrong. The only real way is to devide how many miles u went with how many gallons u put in at the pump. That is how i do it. Next time take a pic of the recept with a pic of the cluster to show us. So was this done by my metheod or by the computer???

^^ wow these numbers are impressive.
Did you do any mods to get these mileages or is it all stock?
Here in Ontario Canada, our roads are as flat as an airport runway but I can still never past 39mpg (with 100% highway driving). With stop and go traffic I'll be lucky to hit 30mpg.
Mind you I do drive an 07 AT sport

Sorry for the confusion. I didn't wait until the light came on, my point was that I didn't just drive around for 25 miles before filling up again and getting that number. Now that I look at my numbers, I was actually looking at the wrong fill up date. When I got 49 mpg, I drove 349 miles, put in a little over 7 gallons. My average is ~45 mpg though because I'm always stuck in L.A. freeway traffic on my way home from work. Here's an example of my recent mileage:
Date-------Miles----Gals--Price--MPG
7/02/10 - 355.7 - 7.745 $3.07 45.9
6/29/10 - 349.0 - 7.074 $3.10 49.3
6/28/10 - 372.9 - 8.472 $3.01 44.0
6/23/10 - 353.1 - 7.984 $3.10 44.2
6/14/10 - 399.8 - 8.492 $3.00 47.1
6/10/10 - 348.9 - 7.538 $2.96 46.3
6/09/10 - 388.9 - 8.492 $3.06 45.8
6/04/10 - 475.7 - 10.26 $3.08 46.4 <--I usually fill up before the light comes on but you can see how many miles would be possible on a full tank
Was this directed at me? I don't go by the mpg display, it's always off (usually shows ~52mpg for me which is not right). I do it your way but I track it on fuelly.com.

No not at all just stating that for every one that the display is never right.

That's the main reason why you're seeing good numbers. Long commutes/drives usually mean the engine operates efficiently for far longer than on short trips.

I finally cracked 40mpg yesterday. It would of been higher, but of course I can not pass up playing on some fun winding roads. At one point my readout was 20.4km/l, my guage is usually about .2~3km/l off. When I got home my readout was 17.3km/l and this morning I filled up after the 269km and it actually was 17.08km/l for 40.18mpg. This was without any highway driving, but stretches of no stop and go, but the terrain was up and down and windy, though when playing the readout dropped down to 14.1km/l, heavy braking and accelerating does that. My actual average since owning the car since mid January is just 12.3km/l (28.96mpg). I'm more than happy with this.

wow,
light comes on and I fill around 8 gallons,
driving at 70 mph on hwy the instant varies anywhere from 20s to 30s to maintain speed.
if I drive stop and go with a little lead in my shoes I get 22mpg,
what gas are you guys using to get 50 mpg?

Reg ol87 lol I changed my rims and kept the stock tires and my mpg went wayyyy down but I normally can get 40- 45 cursing and I mean cursing also I have heard there r some fits getting great mpg others get like 28 so I hope u got a hood one

The best I got was 46mpg and this was with a lot of effort to get it. The slowest legal speed while cruising, FAS, 40psi tires, driving without brakes except on stop signs of course, slow acceleration and others. So its kind of hard to believe to get those numbers(45mpg plus) without any effort or just by cruising. No offense intended but just an honest statement.

Driving 70mph will not get you good numbers. You will have to drive the speed limit with easy acceleration and slow stops.
