Oil life

I have the same mileage (560 miles) and it is still reading 100%. On a similar subject will you be changing the oil before the 1000 mile mark?
The owners manual (in the break in period section) specifically says not to change the oil until the system says to. I want to fully believe Honda engineers but many people have been telling me to change it after 700 miles and before 1000 miles. They suggest that there is too much lubricant for fitting and other additives that should be drained out. This makes sense but it could also make sense to keep the additives in until 3000 miles or whenever the maintenance minder says. What is everyone else doing?

I have about 660 miles, and the oil life reads 90%. Honda has a vested interest in long term reputation and spent considerable $$ developing this feature. The manual says "do not change the oil early". I can only guess what that means, but I am changing mine when I reach 0%

Speaking of oil, doesnt Honda use 5W20 now days? This is a thin oil Ford came up with so it make the CAFE standards (thin oil = better fuel mileage). It is a synthetic blend oil.
Can a Fit owner check this in the manual please.

Today's Honda engines are very different from the engines of old. Heed the owner's manual and don't change the oil until the system tells you to - especially the first time. Honda's reputation lies in low maintenance cost and long engine life and they're not about to tarnish it. After the first one, any oil changes in less than 5000 miles is just wasting oil. Won't help, but won't hurt either. It's just wasteful.

The salesperson should have gone over this with you in delivery on your Fit. Check the manual, the Oil countdown percentage includes other informtion that is displayed as well with specific letters coming up in the display area. You should have a quick start guide in your paperwork that give more info on this read out. This is a great feature that many other cars do not offer.

I wanted to bring this back up.
I'm at 5000 miles and my minder says 50% oil life. Would this mean, as long as I keep the same driving habits, I can go 10000 miles before I hit 0%?! I'm sure that can't be right. Maybe the oil life will start dropping faster with higher mileage. I think it's gotta go to 0% at 7500 max because that is normally the recommended change interval. What have been your experiences? What is your minder-recommended oil change interval?

My oil life is showing 80% at 1,300 miles or 2,100 km. My hunch is that the oil life monitor will go down quicker as it gets near 0%, but that's just based on an assumption that once the oil starts to break down, it will break down quicker than when it's brand new.
I'd be interested to see how driving habits impact the oil life monitor and what the measurement for oil life % is actually based on. Perhaps it's a very simple linear type measurement that is based on km's driven or maybe it's highly complex. In any event, it is a nice feature to have.
I'll also follow the owner's manual and trust the people who made the car.
