bumbers should be rubber!!!!

painted bumpers are STOOOOOPID and should be banned. you should be able to hit a car while parking and not do any visible damage. worth noting that FIT doesn't even have trim on the sides to ptotect you from doors opeing in the parking lot. enough to make me buy a kia it is.

This reminds me of air travel. You pay for your seat, but someone who supersizes their meals thinks it's okay to invade your space.

Question is, is there any aftermaket product that can protect your bumper from the deliberate parking hits in the city?

Or do you just replace the bumper skin annually.

Wow, I've seen this many times when parking in NYC. The worst was a Cab trying to park in a space 1 ft too small. He was actually ramming the bumpers of cars around him. I had to get out of my car to tell him to give it up and let me park my car in the space. Needless to say this guy did not leave a note either.

But if you look at a lot of NYC cars you will see that lots of them have what looks like tire tread strips around their bumpers just for street parking encounter. But cabbies are the worst.

Now about those protectors....maybe it's just too late now.
I bought some clear stick on bumper protectors that blend through the paint!! these are made in japan with 3M tapes...doesn't look bad at all with the protection...
