Question re: A/C Performance in the FIT

I'm seriously considering purchasing one of these irrisitible cars once I close the sale on my house next week. But I did read one post on here where someone stated that the a/c was not really cold enough.

The combination of a hot, humid climate where I live, plus the black interior of the Fit, and my being very hot-natured concerns me that I will not be able to stay cool enough in this car.

I would appreciate any feedback you can offer in this regard.

I find that on 1-2-3 setting, the ac is not cold enough.. it needs to be on 4 for it to really feel "cold"

I live in AZ

Hi... I live in Scottsdale AZ, near Phoenix, and I think that my air is pretty cold. It takes a lil' time to get real cold, but it does get there. It is already in the 100's here! Hope that helps.

Thanks, Tina, that is somewhat encouraging, though I used to live in Tucson and you certainly don't get the humidity there!

Canadians have a different sense of cold. What is considered cold in Texas could very well mean shorts and a T-shirt in Canada.

My air seems to work pretty good. I actually had to turn it down once because it got way too cold. But like the other two Hondas I've had, I have noticed having the air on really takes the power out of the car. Not a big deal for me, but just thought I'd mention it.

LMFAO!!! So true!

Also, the AC will feel cooler in a humid area.

Seriously? Even when it's 100 degrees out? When summer is at its peak I have a hard time staying cool anywhere because it just seems like the a/c can't keep up.

Well....if you can wait, do your car shopping in late June or mid July and check it yourself.

It's hard to get an accurate read when everyone's from different climates and have different tolerances.

It works. you may want to ask Honda what the specs are on the a/c. That would be the most objective thing to do. I plan to tint the windows on my Fit because I think the car is kinda warm . I was about 60 degrees f driving my car home from the dealer and it seemed warmer then typical. Lots of window combined with dark interior. I will reviset this thread after my windows are tinted to post my opinion. Personally I bought the Fit before seeing it. That is another subject that worked out well. good luck

You know, Bukwheat, that is simply excellent advice.

The thing is...I have no patience whatsoever, lmao, and want that car YESTERDAY!

ETA: big_FIT, thanks for your imput, too. Hmmm, I wondered if tinting might be of some help. Is that the main reason people do that, other than the privacy issue?

Put the Fan on the highest setting and use recirculated air. It should be cool enough for almost everyone.

It's been in the 90's here and humid, kind of strange for this area but we had alot of rain late this year. My A/C has performed wonderfully I have had to turn it down once it gets cool.

It helps the temperature stay cold on summer and keeps warm on winter and blocks up to 98% ultraviolet rays. Also prevents glass from xploding in small pieces all over in accident and keep a good privacy and helps keeping fabrics. Give more value to the car. anything else ?

that's hot.

another thing to consider is what you're driving now vs. a shiny new honda. i drove jeeps for the last ten years and let me tell you that the Fit's AC is downright arctic compared to my former cooling systems. it's super muggy where i am and i swear i haven't put the air above the 2nd fan setting (yet). soooooo...it could be all relative...which means you should get a fit! there. that sums it up nicely!
