Stereo Sound Quality in Base FIT?

I'm about to pick up my base FIT next week. For those who purchased the base, could you give me your opinions of the stereo quality in it? My only regret in not getting a sport is the possibility that the base model stereo will be lame and with no way to change out the stock headunit, it has me questioning my decision to go with the base model.

Would love to hear your inputs... Thanks!!

Let's say the sound system is not its major selling point.

The sound is ok, nothing to write home about.

i wanted to hook up my ipod in my base, so i bought an adapter that plugged into the cd changer port, but it kept falling out, and it was annoying.

so i went with a new head unit:

i would definitely recommend a new HU if you want good sound.

I have just the HU with stock speakers, and I think mine sounds better than my friend's fit sport with an amp and aftermarket speakers.

His highs are more crisp, but my base is better and has a more balanced sound.

If you can afford it, i say go with a new stereo.

New head unit is a must! IMO.

The sport model stereo is pretty painful to listen to, in my opinion. Until I upgraded the head unit I didn't listen to much at all - music was physically unpleasant on the stock setup . . . gave me headaches.
