Trade the GC6 2.5RS in for a fit?
I currently drive a Subaru Impreza 2.5RS from 2000, it old school body style. I love the car but the person who had it before me didn't baby it like I wish he would of, repair costs are getting extreme (went in today for a new 5th gear synco).
I can't say enough good things about this car other than the unexpected costs, but I guess as soon as I have the car up to par it will be a great car. I also do quite a bit of twisty road driving (I'm not a jackass about it and me and my friends use alot of safety when doing this, such as walkie talkies and have a lead car to make sure no oncoming traffic is coming.) While the idea of giving up the fun of that doesn't bother me that much, it might in the future.
But what appeals to me about the Fit is well it doesn't have the problems my car has recently been giving me. I like the style of the fit and I've heard its suspension isn't all that bad. And sense I'm not super hardcore about touge racing it might be just fine for me when I do get those urges. But I was wondering if any of you came from a GC6 2.5RS and could give me some things to think about, or anyone in general.
What do you guys think? stick with what i got or move on? and why?

The Fit will be EXTREMELY tame compared to your subie.
I went from a '00 Civic EX 5-speed to my '07 Fit Sport MT, and I admittedly miss my Civic. It wasn't nearly as refined as the Fit, so it gave the car a more 'raw' feel when driving. Now, I feel as though I'm isolated from the road. The Fit can sure handle though--fantastic steering and manueverability. Also, it is noticeably less powerful than my Civic, especially at speeds higher than 80mph.
I sold the Civic for the same reason that you are thinking of selling your subaru: repair bills. My driving habits were downright maniacal in my old car, and thus I broke the transmission... twice.
However, now I have a super practical car that gets fantastic gas mileage, and I have zero repair bills, which were my main reasons for buying the Fit in the first place.
Just my experience.

Keep your old car if you prefer spirited driving. Although I thought the Fit drove very well and was fun to drive, it will definitely not carve the twisties like your Impreza unless you modify it (e.g. suspension, engine, etc).

Suby love here. I also need to trade in my WRX for the fit due to the previous owner. I sure will miss my suby. I love your year though, that is by far the best model. I was gonna go that route with that year drop in a rex motor but I don't have that time. If the US did not skip the 22B or STI on that year my money would had been all over it. Good luck on whatever it is that you wish to do. The only problem i got is I'm debating over a blk or wht fit. Cheers

Fellow old school Sube owner here. (NASIOC!) Unlike the post-WRX Imprezas, your 2.5RS sedan is a rare car that will probably be considered "collector's car" years down the road. I'd recomend hanging onto it if you can.

Very true, I guess after looking at numbers and what not I will keep my GC6. I don't think I could give up the car. I love the fit but I've put so much time with research and what not with this car that I might aswell continue with it. The fit sure is tempting though, but like some of you said, the lack of power would bother me I think. But I already think my cars slow because I hang out with people with STi's so much. So it would be even harder to go down another peg.
But even then the fit's tempting, I guess I will see how things pan out but I still can't take my eyes off the one at the dealership close by, black, sport model, has those nice gun metal wheels *drool*
And thanks for all the compliments, I really put time into the small exterior things i've done to it so far
(go nasioc!)
