AWD fit -- same suspension as FWD?
This question has been bugging me for awhile, and i was just wondering if anyone knew the answer to this?
also, if anyone knows if we can use their rear discs on our fits as well.

i think they have them in some parts of asia. I've seen a fit doing some offroad stuff on youtube. LOL

i'm aware its not available in NA, but i was wondering if the suspension was the same, so that there would be the possibility (albeit an expensive possibility) of a AWD conversion.
even though i know the chances are pretty slim, since they most likely have independent rear suspension.

As for suspension differences, I think they're limited to a slight change in ride height and spring rate. I've browsed through a few suspension makers' parts lists (TEIN and Cusco among others) and they offer a different set of springs and coilovers for the 4WD Fits...or at least different part numbers. The aftermarket suspension parts for 4WD Fits tend to have taller ride height.
The 4WD system for the Fit isn't anything as robust as one might think it is, I believe it just shares the Real-Time 4WD hardware with the CR-V. So it's predominantly a front-driver in most conditions until the front wheels slip under power. That's when the rears kick in.

A AWD rear suspension is radically different from the US 2WD one. There are less expensive rear discs available in the US from AJ for example. I've had mine for nearly 2 years with no troubles. Go back far enough in suspension posts and there's a photo.
