im not a mac user personally, but I am an IT technician and have spent about a year administering macs, but only in a business environment.
If you're using ITUNES are you sure they're MP3's and not ALC's?
are you trying to 'burn a music CD' or 'burn MP3 files to disk', if its the latter, then itunes used to encrypt the mp3
s while doing this so you couldnt share illegal music. Try 'burning a music cd' if you're just 'burning mp3's' at the moment.
What you've done here is stumbled upon the biggest flaw in the itunes system. the 'database'.
Normally i'd just say 'go grab another freeware burning program'. However, if you use itunes from the start, most files are both covered in DRM restrictions, and in a wierd folder order in the 'database' of your music.
Its not mac hate, its itunes hate, and yes ive given it a fair chance in the past.
Hope soething ive said has helped, good luck.

i use mac and have been using it for quite some time now.
I think Master_Scythe is right, there is something about the encoding. It could be a couple of things actually.
First, you could check that you're doing it right. I've used iTunes to burn a lot of cd's to my Jazz.. There are different ways to do it, but i create a new playlist and click the "burn cd" down in the right corner. you SHOULD get a couple of choices of how you want to burn your CD, if it is a Audio-CD so on so on. Always choose mp3 (the jazz doesnt always take the encoding in "audio cd")!
There is another way to do it that i KNOW works, if you create a new Burning Folder (Finder - Archive - New Burning Folder) (not quite sure of the terminology, my OS is in Norwegian.) then drag your files from your itunes music folder and press burn. If not, do it like it is said here, download some random freeware!
Hope it helps,

dont use itunes,
make a new folder, put it on your desktop.
arrange different folders in that main "root" folder for each artist or album.
depending on how you want it to be set up.
you can drag your music from the itunes window into the folder, or use a new finder window to navigate through your music
then control click- burn.

i have never had any trouble burning mp3 cds in itunes...
are u doing this?
1. insert blank cd
2. make a playlist in itunes that you want to burn
3. click on burn cd icon.
4. a dialog will come up asking what type of cd u want to burn, speed u want your burner to burn at, etc.

You guys, it's AAC not ALC and the only reason you'd have an "encoding" problem with them is if you actually purchased the songs from itunes. Otherwise, just choose for everything to import as MP3 and you'll be fine. For buying MP3s just stick to Amazon and bring them into iTunes.
